I was thinking of leveling up weaponsmith from 400 to grab the ascended greatsword for mostly wvw and a little pve.
I mostly go for a dps build with a little tanky-ness and not much into ranged attacks. I also just spent 300g on a skin so it would be immediately changed to that skin so I would only get it (ascended greatsword) for stats.. I’m trying to figure out if it’s even worth it.
With that said I do have plenty of mats so it wouldn’t be a huge expensive or effort..
Which one would you get and why?
I’ve also noticed that a greatsword for 40g has reasonable stats so I was thinking of doing that instead…
it can never hurt as long as you’re not strapped for gold / mats or saving for anything else. what stats are you using on your exotic GS? get the same if that’s the same gameplay you’re gonna be sticking with.
though, for the GS, i’m just inclined to say get berserker stats. and then if you’re needing a bit more of other stats, you can easily alter that through the rest of your gear, namely trinkets and what not. or just have your 2nd weaponset be a bit more tanky if you need that and switch to GS for burst – which is what it does well.
just one ascended weapon won’t make or break the game, though if you have full ascended trinkets, the stat differences can add up. : )) so if you can afford to, might as well start making ascended weapons. (though leveling up crafting was kind of tedious lol)

Just get Berserker if you want a more focused dps build. Crafting ascended isn’t too bad. Biggest problem is getting to 500. That’s will cost you around 70g I’d say if you have a lot of mats already, and only use buy orders. Once you get to 500, it’s fairly cheap, and you can always make more with different stats.
