This means you don’t get AH. 0/0/20/30/20 build. I play staff and mace/shield with over 1000 healing. From what I read here, group rejuvenation from Virtue of Resolve is approx. 200 a tick with my build. Personal health is not really an issue as I have 2 energy sigils and mainly power/toughness/healing with some vitality to get me to between 17-18k hp. Using crests and orbs at present until I figure things out.

Crit% is low – approx 12% on staff and 17% on mace with Sigil of Accuracy – mainly to take advantage of vigor on crits and +20% crit damage in valor. it has been as low as 4% at times. Thinking about dropping crit from build entirely.

I love the shield and don’t mind playing a support class, both for gameplay and RP reasons. Traits include larger symbols and symbols heal.

I use hammer on occasion. If I went with it more often I go with AH, add more crit and drop symbols. My build, though no doubt dull to many – fits my playstyle rather well.

You’ll heal approximately 200HP every tick, yes. You’ll heal up to 5 allies, yes. However, there’s one key fact. You’ll usually heal the nearest five allies. The majority of people that will need healed are on the front lines. If you form a small group to turn camps or pick roamers, it can have some potential, especially with Staff. In raids/zergs, you’ll have to put yourself on the front lines to heal the people that need the healing. Even so, you won’t heal enough to make a large difference in survival and you’ll be relatively defenseless without Altruistic Healing or Monk’s Focus as a back-up heal. It all depends on where you and your allies are as well as how many allies you have near you.

It’s worth it if you/your group aren’t hurting for condition removal. The heal may seem negligible, but make no mistake that it’s very valuable over the course of an engagement.

You’re looking at it wrong.

Battle presence stacks with everything else in the game except itself. So yeah, if those guys on the frontline are getting healed by regen for 250 per tick, power to them. You know what battle presence does? It boosts the healing to 450 per tick. Do you know what another application of regen does? It sticks them at the rate of 250 healing per tick…but now for maybe 5 seconds longer lol. Like you said, that kind of healing won’t matter.

Considering warriors traited into banners can already stack regeneration over a minute on me battle presence is enormously useful for just stacking healing…along with soothing mist and symbol heal, you can stack a jack kitten ton of healing on your allies that regeneration can’t provide.

Yes, Guardians provide regeneration, but nearly every other class can as well. What they can’t provide, with the exception of eles, is extra healing/tick that stacks on regeneration.

Honorable mention would be if a guardian pops his virtue of resolve allies still get battle presence. Tis trufax

Also battle presence and Altruistic healing are grandmaster traits in different lines.

depending on how you’re set up, AH or MF isn’t needed at all to “survive”. i’ve seen various Guardian builds without running those and they more than hold their own.

i’ll say that Battle Presence + Absolute Resolution is nice if:
1) like you, have a decent amount of healing (1lk+ is my personal threshold)
2) running a small enough group and ideally always having people near you
3) like Christos mentioned, when conditions ain’t a thang for you and your group

your setup will get a lot of active healing + passive healing. sometimes i run with larger symbols and healing symbols and on the mace it gets pretty decent heals on a melee centric group and you can control when and where you put down the symbol. and in WvW, in the thcik of things, not everyone will think to move out of symbols. healing on the staff and the fact that you have energy sigils, you can pretty much ehal for 1K plus every 10 seconds as well. you also have additional healing on your shield.

I used to run like this before pure of voice got fix, its OK.
but pure of voice is much better.

each burn on allies= aegis
weaknes=might
vulnerability= protection etc…

the damage prevention and mitigation of pure of voice is much better than battle presence

the only thing is that i noticed that the converted boons seem not to stack with the shout boon… (it will remove the condition but will not get extra boon duration)

i.e. not to use retreat on burn and immobilized
not to use stand your ground on confusion and fear
not to use hold the line on poison and vulnerability.

Actually it works better on larger groups, each application of resolve lasts a few seconds, heals for a total of about 1k? You keep moving towards where people are getting hit and tag resolve on them, then move on to the next patch. Works best if you have a water ele doing this with you, the two stacks, and also stacks on top of regen.

In Total, protection -33% dmg + 250 resolve + 250 soothing mist + 250 regen (and water ele regen also removes conditions) = Your group cannot be pressured to death, only possible to die to instajib gank squads of 3+ GC thieves focus firing.
