Hi all

Ive been toying around with the WvW build for AH Frontlining and would like some constructive criticism please.

I am pretty new to WvW so my primary goal is to survive in the front lines but not hit like a complete wet noodle.

I do not have any ascended gear so the build i based on full exotics.

Currently im running the build below but with all knights accessories. It gives me insane toughness especially when you add the 150 from strength in numbers when in combat.

However i am thinking of swapping out the amulet, back piece, 1 ring and 1 earring for Clerics to get my heal power up from the base 300 to 635. This will improve my dodge healing quite a bit especially when paired with the sigils of energy.

So is this a good setup or am i just nerfing my original build that has all knights accessories?

Bear in mind my number 1 goal is to not die in the front lines while still helping the team plus some damage. I cant afford to change my soldiers gear so that stays. I can only change my weapons and/or accessories.

Thanks very much.

You’d be better off with 300 healing power for this particular build.

AH scales badly with healing power and so your only major sources that use healing power are regen, staff 2 heals, and dodge heals. In the end AH is the bulk of your sustain. Dodge heals are nice but alone I don’t think they justify investment into healing power; with such a high armor, AH alone should be enough. You’d probably be better off with knight or zerker trinkets over the cleric. But if you insist, you may want to just try cleric amulet. This will give you 500’ish dodge heals.

For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards,
for there you have been and there you will long to return.

Thanks Archon. Ive been pretty happy with my current setup (soldier armor, knight weapons and accessories), however, i just felt like experimenting.

So with some gold to burn in my pocket i bought a cleric amulet, 1 cleric ear ring, 1 cleric ring. I crafted a cleric back pack.

I also decided to swap my knight staff for a cleric staff since the staff isnt exactly a dps weapon. Its main purpose is to tag people (ie loot stick) and also for the Empower and Speed. This gives me 179 extra healing power right when i need it.

I tested it last night and i was doing 950+ HP dodge rolls! Agreed that it doesnt really do anything for AH but i think swapping the Staff at least feels like i dont lose out on anything. I may change 2 of my accessories back to Knight or Zerker to get my crit chance back. I felt it really helped quite a bit in terms of my personal survivability as well as my team since i was dodge/roll healing my team for more than double what i was doing before.

I could even swap out my soldier coat and legs for cleric coat/legs (although that works out to be a lot more expensive since i would have to buy Melandru runes for them too) and get probably 1100+ HP dodge heals. I would only lose out on a little vitality which is offset by the better healing.

Not really a constructive comment, but instead I’ll post an entire build.

Thanks Witcher. I use that as my base build. I just think that not everyone wants to run the META and actually sometimes META builds can require a lot of skill. Plus some people enjoy different things. Im fairly new and as such i want to generate more survivability. Also if you increase your dodge healing it reduces your reliance of having tons of allies around you. If you decide to run with a smaller group or happen to get cut off from the main zerg your AH healing drops drastically. Thats when the significantly higher dodge heals will really help.
