Hello all,

I did a small research but I am still unsure of the path or the variations I might follow. What I want is true frontline ability and decent survivability but not to the point that I neglect damage.

On Metabattle there is a celestial armor set (Trinkets too) recommended on the build for which the traits I guess must be more or less the same. But I read for Commander’s or Marauder’s for extra damage, or Wanderer’s, Minstrel’s or Soldier’s for extra defense.

Because I will be crafting the armor I would appreciate your input on the available variations and their expected performance. What do you think might be the better choice for a novice frontliner, what would be the most versatile option (allowing me to roam), or the jack of all trades (if any), etc.
*Build links are also welcome.

About weapons what is your favorite hammer or GS and why?

Thanks to all in advance.

Starting out I would suggest Soldiers Armor + Amulet + Marauder rest. If you can’t get marauder trinkets (can be gotten from map currency in LS3, you can always take the berserker+valk combo https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ascended_trinket#Trinkets_with_predefined_prefixes

It’s unfortunately very costly to craft armor, and crafting the exotic versions of wanderer/marauder isn’t worth it though ascended will be worth it in the long run.

Still though, soldiers is a good way to start out. It’ll make sure you’ll have a decent health pool and the marauders part will make sure you don’t wet noodle it.

For weapons I usually like Greatsword because the leap comes in handy

For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards,
for there you have been and there you will long to return.

A good cheaper option that’s still solid is just using soldiers, GS for #3 mobility and some damage in smaller fights and staff as main support. Sigils and runes are flexible with cheap options. Overall you will contribute quite a lot. Hammer is also good but I prefer GS.
