#5 best gerdien in wurld
This is a silly question but to be honest.. I don’t WvW at all. On occasion I’ll roam with my burn build soloing camps until a mob of 5 players come to kill me. After respawning a couple of times I tend to lose interest (from walking so much) and leave.
I’m curious what builds people use, if there’s any solo guards here, and where to go to get the best action if you’re soloing. I typically have trouble picking worlds; no clue which area to pick such as high enemy controlled or contested areas from all three worlds?
What you described is pretty much what solo roaming is as a guardian. You have little to no escape potential, so it’s basically just trying to find good 1v1s and dying every time you get caught by 3+ people.
When I Solo Roam in EB,
I like to run Full Zerker Medi (All or nothing).
I do push 1v1, 1v2 and sometime 1v3..
There are really 2 schools of thought
1) Sustain it up and either kill the 1v2’s / 1v3’s so long as you can handle a 4-5 min fight and so long as in the time it takes for that encounter, you don’t get adds….. The issue is, it’s too long and you’ll get adds… which leaves you with no escape.
2) Zerk it up – build for mobility and play an active style w/ blinds, dodges, blocks & great burst. This is a ~very~ unforgiving build as you won’t have mor than 13k hp (w/o stacks). In this build, the mobility is ABSOLUTELY there. Anyone who says different, really doesn’t play the build well. Sorry.
3 gap closers, +25% passive Speed. Yes, JI has longer cooldown, but Sword is on a pretty quick cooldown and when you learn the rotate, it’s basically a GG-escape.
The issue is, as a guardian, you need to keep your escape route in mind at all times. THAT is the single priority because it requires a target.
… if you missed the key point, here it is again: Your Escape is Reliant UPON a Target.
No Target – No Escape.
For the naysayers there – yes, if a theif or warrior is not on cooldowns, they will catch up. However, the Guardian can gain more distance in a shorter period of time over the warrior due to the “instant” nature of our escapes (minus GS Leap). From there, L2Kite / Obstruct Views.
Thief – well, burst them down

I dunno if I trust this guy’s information…
yeah they are all correct, just want to add: even if you are say a thief, and you barely escape a zerg incoming, teleport to garrison and start roaming again,ok?
Now with guardian you do the same, just after being stomped, anyway i didn’t see the thief turn back and kill the all zerg … if you can roam even duo, guardian power scale multiplicatively with other people near you, even if you fart you give boon to them, if you are medi (meta) you can give them (AOE) : might, regen, aegis, protection, heal, fury , blind to the enemy, and an handy immobilize… what do you want more from a class with a build full damage?
when I roam I usually run with 2x 1 hander Mediation build, zerk armor with traveler runes, valk weps and earrings, Zerk necklace, Captain and Cavalier rings. Gives about 16k hp with guard stacks, 2.8k armor, high dmg and my build is 0/6/6/1/1 or 2/6/6/0/0 so I have high crit. Sigils and food are sustain and utility is toughness + ferocity sharpening stones. The build is good but you gotta blind big bursts. I can and regularly do 1v2 or 1v3 in this build but admittedly in a 1v3 the others have to be below your skills level for any profession to win those odds.
If you choose a guard to play as a roamer then you will have to learn to play with lower hp pools and taking traveler or speed runes. (i guess pack could work too if you wanna staff swap alot)
