WvW: Magi or Knight?
Knight = Power/Precision/Toughness
Magi = Precision/Vitality/Healing Power
They’re both equally good at granting critical chance, the choice becomes whether you want more offense (Knight’s) or defense (Magi’s) in your build. That’s your call.
That’s your call.
Well I read a lot that +healing is worthless on a guardian. But also heal is a defensive stat so it will increase player’s survivability.
The other point is of course armor vs hitpoint. Versus MASSISVE zergs I’m afraid even a very hight armor character will melt away in a couple of seconds, but high healing scales better with high mitigation than high hitpoint pool.

I’m not entirely sure why someone would think so…
Virtue of Resolve scales quite decently with it… 0.06 seems quite low, except that’s the passive healing per second. This means that for each 100 healing power you heal 6 more hp a second. Considering the base, at lvl 80, is 84 hp/s, that’s quite nice.
The active scales at 0.75, which is a pretty nice scaling for healing. Especially considering that’s not even your main heal.
Signet of Resolve Scales at 1.25 (!).
Shelter scales at 0.7 (and don’t forget Shelter is the weaker heal to make up for the block).
Altruistic Healing Scales at 0.01 per boon… which is actually pretty good given that the base value of 69 hp per boon.
… Etc… And that’s not even accounting for Regeneration, which scales equally for all classes. I don’t know, Guardian seems to be the best healing power scaling class, to be honest…
Personally, I’m going with Knight’s simply because I prefer a more offensive Guardian. But I don’t see why Magi wouldn’t be legit for a more bunker build… Just make sure that you also have some toughness in your build somewhere.
Don’t forget selfless daring, it’s 1:1.

I’ve ran Magi before. Sad to say dropping Magi completely and rolling pure berserker’s/knight’s i survive longer and deal a good deal more damage. The healing power just does not do much in the long run for you unless you focus everything into it.
my personal threshold for specifically investing into Healing Power, whether it be cleric’s, magi’s or what else, is to be at least, if not darn close to 1k healing power. if not, i’d say go for other stats.
again, that’s me personally, but i feel i need to draw the line somewhere for the trade-offs.
i want to say AH builds greatly benefit from having high toughness. so if you do invest in healing power from magi’s to upkeep crit rating, do make sure to find your toughness somewhere else though!

Akamon speak’s truth. Healing power is sadly waisted if your not around the 1k or higher marker. As for toughness soldier/knight’s/cleric all three are decent for people building magi as they add toughness and power. Soldier if you want more hp. Knight’s if you want more crit chance. Cleric if you want more healing power.
Healing scales linearly. Reaching a certain number isn’t any better or worse. What matters is that you understand how to use your healing power. Which moves have the best co-efficient and making sure you are using enough separate healing moves to get use out of it. AH scales terribly with healing power. It’s atrocious. AH in inherently selfish and getting healing power on the build usually just spreads you out too thin. Focus on staying alive and damage if you like AH.
Staying alive is the entire point behind AH. It means you are around to give off more boons, stomp enemies to revive allies, actually reviving allies, controlling the fight, getting into dangerous positions that other classes would die in so you can win the fight. Staying alive is awesome but in theory, you are going to be more successful killing the enemy faster than you will trying to heal your allies more. When you drop an opponent from the fight you theoretically “healed” all the dps would have been dishing out to your team but can’t now because he is dead instead of your allies having more health.
Don’t get me wrong, healing power has it’s place. Especially in small scale wvwvw fights. But AH + Healing power becomes a confused build. AH keeps you alive against steady damage extremely well, spend your time figuring out how to survive burst better (Vita or blocks or invulns) and killing them faster.
Dead stuff doesnt hit back theory. I like.
Healing power is amazing with a full support set up in WvW. That being said unless it was my only gear set I wouldn’t take it into PvE.
I’ve found that running 5 pieces of Knights gear with a Magi chest, and full cleric’s accessories with the Magi guild backpack gives you a good balance of toughness, vitality, crit chance, power, and healing power. With the right runes and food buffs, you can run at 3200 armor, almost 17K health, and 1,000 healing power, with a close to 50% crit chance. Perfect for an Altruistic Healing build.
Remember, you don’t always have to go full one way or the other. You can mix and match to balance out your stats as necessary. I happen to like having a decent amount of healing power for a bit more group utility with an AH build, so that’s what I strive to achieve, without gimping on armor or hit points.
