[WvW] New Guardian Stats Advice
Low health and low power, I don’t think you’re going to be happy with your Guardian in the front lines.
I’d recommend focusing on something and picking “leftover” points for something else. Building an all around average will make your Guardian excel at nothing.
Condition Damage is the worst damage increase attribute you can get, get rid of it.
High crit chance and damage doesn’t mean much if your damage is terribly low already, try to pick a decent constant damage that benefits from an occasional crit than depending on crits to deal the decent damage.
The boon duration runes/traits are good if you’re planning on giving boons out, but that’s the only thing you’re going to do well. If you want to play a 50% boon support Guardian, I recommend this
More damage, more health and survivability, and the Staff to benefit for the Boon Duration increase. You could pick a Scepter if you want deal ranged damage, because you won’t really be getting too many Empowering Might stacks during some heavy zerg vs zerg with only melee weapons.
Wall of Reflection is a must. Judge’s Intervention is only good if you have a massive damage output so you can quickly get in, down, and work your way out, or if you’re caught in the middle of the enemy zerg and you find a critter to teleport your way out.
Hold the Line kinda sucks in my opinion, and Stand Your Ground is too situational for WvW. You never know when you should pop it, and/or if you’re really benefiting from it. It’s excellent for short group fights or 1v1 when you can easily predict stuns and stuff, but not for a 30 vs 30 fight. For these, Consecrations works awesome.
Thanks for the reply! I think I will drop condition damage. My reasoning behind it was for all the burns I would do with all my blocks. I get 4 blocks with mace/focus and who knows how many when using shelter. So I would stack might/heals from AH as well as stack burning on foes.
I really do not want to give up hammer. I love the cc on it.
I kinda am stuck with not giving up judges either. I use it to swoop in to stop stomps or to catch people. (channel #4 on hammer then teleport or channel #5 and teleport).
I really never am in big battles. I avoid zergs. I usually am in skirmishes with anywhere from 2-10 enemies.
I’ll drop condition damage, and not worry about crit damage. Ill look into boasting my power a bit too.
Is 200 healing power enough? I havent had time to test these in the mists, but what would be a good halfway number for healing power? That’s why in my build I linked I had around 500. Is it worth it to go from 200-500 or 600?
Ive been following the AH hammer build in the sticky as far as where to put my stats. That’s also where i read that low hp is fine.
UPDATE:
Newest build iteration. These numbers look pretty good to me..
