I would like to play guardian frontline but I am not sure about the build.

I have created this one: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vVAQJASWlsAhWhYtQwaIwPEHJEVe/+wAEvBhQKcX2AIBA-TlCEABA8AAI+IA0i6Pwv/gBXAAyU+Jg5v11F82hAIVlgkCoIhWA-w

Can you give me a feedback?

This is basically an AH frontliner build, except you are missing the “AH” part; you are missing out on a huge healing opportunity when empowering with your staff there. I run all shouts but another possibility instead of your current “Smite Condition” is “Purging Flames”. You may want to consider Master of Consecrations if you use that.

Also, with a 4% crit chance, not sure if the hammer virtue is worth the trouble over the very powerful “Absolute Resolution”. The same goes for sigils that rely on crit hits.

Otherwise you are very similar to what I run on my tank guard, right down to the food and wrench. I love the Durability runes.

You’re currently mixing medis and shouts, which I’m not a fan of. Short version: medis are good solo/roaming, AH+shouts in large groups. Using shouts and the shout trait synergizes best with Altruistic Healing, which will most always be at maximum effectiveness on the frontline since you should always be surrounded by 5+ allies. I’d say swap Monk’s Focus for AH, and definitely swap Glacial Heart for Absolute Resolution. You need AR to make Virtue of Resolve somewhat useful; taking renewed focus without it is bleh. From these changes you’ll want to take retreat instead of smite condition, and if you feel like more condicleanse I’d say consider replacing hold the line with purging flames.

Soldier’s is standard armor, but I’m mixed on the trinkets. I think you’d be better off going for knight’s or ascended soldier’s if you can. The healing power from the sapphires isn’t enough to make a difference in survivability, and AH doesn’t scale well with healing anyways. Sentinel’s is decent if you want to make a wall/mad charger, but in that case you might as well go the full mile and run nomad’s armor. Soldier’s trinkets are good because it lets you maximize your damage against objects and structures (siege+gates) with as much survivability as otherwise possible, knight’s trinkets are good because you squeeze out extra damage from crits against players/NPC’s and the higher crit chance gives you the option to run Empowering Might instead of Honorable Staff, which with AH can give a little more survivability. But if you’re comfortable running sentinel’s go ahead, just factor in the damage loss and vitality gain in your playstyle (I turn it to 11 and run deep when I actually use nomad’s).

Durability runes are pretty good. Alternatives (probably inferior) you might consider: Superior Rune of the Trooper to add a condicleanse to shouts on top of Pure of Voice, Superior Rune of Hoelbrak for damages, Superior Rune of Melandru as a cheaper passive defensive rune.

Otherwise it looks good.

A little savagery now and then is relished by the wisest men.
Don’t cry, Signet of Mercy. Others may forget you, but I will always remember.
Our deficiencies may be overcome by practice and self-discipline.

Hi

What you posted is an oldie but goodie variant. I used it for havoc for quite a bit back in the day.

As the posters above me stated, you are better off focusing your build on shouts and concecrations for frontliner build, instead of medi + shout and you are greatly missing out on AH trait. For frontline group play AH >>>>> Medi.

I would also go with different staff sigils, the random boon is too random and most of the times, just not useful and the heal numbers are too abysmal to matter. For frontliner nowadays I highly recommend a combination of Sigil of Generosity and Sigil of Purity, makes a huge and very noticable difference.

Also, this is my personal thing, but I found replacing 2-3 PVT pieces with Magi stats, it just works out better for me even though healing power is worst scaling stat in the game, your AH trait and everything else will heal you a LOT more if you bump it to around 500ish (just under or over).

Rune wise, I tried out durability and it kinda blows unless everyone else in your team stacks it too, far better off running melandru + saffron bread and easier to get. I use hoelbrak or travellers for roaming, small stuff.

Weapon wise, make sure you have a Great Sword on you as well.

You can use the same gear set-up once you get your DH spec, works out real nice, just add longbow to the weapons.

I basically agree with all the earlier responses but would add that its important in a zerg for the commander to understand what his frontline is using and thus what calls to make accordingly. So you should probably ask commanders you run with regularly how they would like you specced. For instance I’m on Isle of Janthir and before the server pairing our commanders rarely called for leaps into the enemy but now paired with JQ and in much bigger zerg fights I find I need to run Dragonhunter for the f2 Wings of Resolve leap if I’m not running greatsword or I’m left behind. So I’ve dropped Valor for Dragonhunter. JQ is a little short on frontline so there are also a couple of commanders on JQ that still play more pirateship meta and would perfer guardians to have longbow and call for longbow 5 for the cc. If you aren’t on voice comms then of course this is less important.

I have a few Guardian builds on my web site. http://asphyxia.tv/builds

There is a really tank one that does not damage, a celestial one that does decent damage and has pretty good support and a roaming one there.
