As we all know, the choice of weapon we use determines our attacks. I was just wandering, and I know you get to wield 2 sets at one point (I’m only level 6), which is your favourite weapon(s) to use and why?

Mace/focus is amazing tanky support. I am struggling to figure out what I like most on second set but I am thinking either Staff or scepter/shield. I’d like to have one set be ranged for when you just have to back out.

I enjoy scepter/torch and greatsword. I can go from heavy ranged to heavy melee very quickly and both have some decent utility with an immobilize, blind and a" x5 death grip".

Hammer, hands down.

Great damage, good survival, has substantial utility.

I’m mostly using Greatsword. I’ve been using it way too much though, getting slightly tired of it. Second loadout is Sword/Torch, much love for torch. <3

I enjoy Scepter/Torch as well but… I don’t like the randomness of Smite and I dislike Orb of Wrath, I like the attack speed but it needs some sort of combo chain imo.

I equip the staff when I need to travel long distances or support big groups.

Good old Standard Mace / Shield if I’m feeling Meaty, Greatsword if I just want to kill many mobs quickly, Scepter / Torch if I wanna feel like a caster.

Now PvP that’s a whole other story…

Greatsword is such a lame, 1 dimensional weapon, that’s far too offensive focused for a melee weapon. And thus I can see how a lot of people go for it.

i like staff for dungeons…switch to a supportive role (never played one in a mmorpg) for pve i like greatsword…just kills fast. for spvp i like the mace/shield with secondary greatsword. you can tank and also switch to deal damage. the greatsword is also good for range who likes to run away

sceptor is my least favorite…i dont see the point in it except for a immobilize…im starting not to like the hammer as well…doesnt have enough damage and also the number 2 skill i keep accidently canceling

Hammer is so much fun. Excellent supporting abilities and AOE damage.

Hammer for me… other weapons might have better DPS, but nothing beats running to help someone and send their attackers flying backwards..

Bar none, hammer. Nothing lets me run wild with damage, CC, mass boons and launch enemies who look at me funny. Most hilarious weapon you could ever use for WvW, imho.

For secondary, I prefer mace/focus. Partly because it allows me some breathing room if my hammer bit off more than it could chew, and partly because the they synergize so well. The symbol from the mace can be utilized by the #5 focus for retaliation, allowing me to continue to support my team even if my damage output drops and CC is virtually nonexistent.

I dabble with the scepter more than the sword, shield or torch, but that’s just because I don’t think they offer enough utility. I use the greatsword the most since it’s the one weapon that keeps dropping for me, but I do enjoy using a staff whenever a good one drops. Nothing beats a nice funnel point when you’re using a staff.

Sword/torch for melee and soloing stuff.

septer/focus for doing DE and things like that.

Hammer as second set but it’s what i have in hand at most times for PvE. deals great dmg while adding some cc. pretty fun to useD i’d say quite versatile. lot of peopel complaing about the chain attack on 1 being too slow (which i agree) and no gap closer (i switch to sword or use judge’s intervention), but i don’t mind so much.skill 2 mighty blow is great too (just make sure you don’t move after activating it or else it cancels) and you can combo with a fire field (purging flames) in your own.

then my main set is sword/torch. once i started burning, i couldn’t go back (as much as i want to utilize the focus more). the sword is also fast and gives me a good blind with short CD.

usually close in with blind + added vulnerability, then set them on fire and then switch to hammer to finish off if need to.

been running this for a while now (have tried all other wep sets and combos as well) and this suits me the most right now. running with it for both solo, DE’s and what not. so far haven’t had a huge need to switch wep sets (lvl 39 now)

I go Greatsword/Mace+Shield (or staff If i have to go full support)
For me the drill is ..Go greatsword leap to blind all mobs,use symbol,change to mace+shield,shield every1 and use another symbol.
I have the trait that makes all my symbols heal,so Its working quite nice for me cause i do nice dmg,blind foes,heal and shield allies at the same time
