Zealot's Defense is just to clumsy
Need to use it in combination w/ either a Blink / Port or Imobilize/knockdown.
All that really needs to happen is having the turning speed increased so the blades follow the target faster.
it should atleast be as accurate as arrows, but it sometimes even miss when the enemys arent dodging when you got sight and the right range is that a bug or what?

Yeah it’s very weak. I use sword for WvW for the mobility and AA damage, but will not use ZD unless the target is completely CC’ed.
On top of its ineffectiveness, the projectile “block” isn’t even a block, it just dissipates projectiles… Which is the opposite of synergy with our traits like might on block, defenders flame, etc…
Make it actually “block” and useable while moving and voila, you’ve just fixed the sword.

I agree that this ability is clunky, and makes me not want to use a 1h sword.
The CD is too long and the “block” doesn’t work.
When used in conjunction with Judge’s Intervention this ability is boss. With the right gear and accessories the damage is incredible
It does have its weaknesses though. If a target is not right next to you and moving the projectiles do rarely hit. And it seems the projectiles spread out slightly in a cone, so if you are attacking a stationary target at Z’sD maximum range they sometimes still miss.
I’ve just recently switched to using sword in WvW and I have to say I’m loving it. I use it as an opener against someone who doesn’t see me for an awesome sneak attack, or I wait until they’ve used a dodge or two to help guarantee as many hits land as possible.
Personally I think ALL of our main hand weapons kinda suck.
But I do use sword, I use imobilize, f1, then the port, then ZD. And while it’s going I hit 5 (focus) for the blocks, switch to 2hs (with chill proc) and go into the spin/leap (if needed). It really is good burst for a Guardian specced the way I am. Normally the person is dead or close at this point. Couple AA’s with the 2hs and then start the rotation all over. I also have the 10% more damage on burning, vulnerability when blinding (port), etc etc. It’s got a MUCH better synergy with my build than any of those other Slow assed weapons.

That’s interesting; I’ll have to look at those builds.
I’ve never had any success with it, and I really haven’t seen any guardians use it before in pvp.
But my experience is rather limited.

Point defense with sword is fun. Sword is less about raw offensive power than it is about anti-kiting and ranged anti-burst. In this scenario ZD is pretty decent — the damage is just a bonus.
Sword also gives you a 10 sec CD LoS ignoring teleport back into the capture circle if you get knocked out of it. If you slot Judge’s Intervention as well, it’s really hard to cheese the point from you with knockbacks + CC, which is what I find a lot of people tend to do once they figure out they won’t be able to kill you outright. This is pretty clutch, especially on points like Kylho clock tower, where 1 well executed knockback + CC can basically cost you the point.
Sword is also excellent for sniping stomps, since you can just flashing blade to them, stomp while they are blind, with a 2nd blind in reserve (Virtue of Justice) with 5 points in radiance.
Sure, ZD is a little clunky. I wouldn’t mind if it got streamlined / buffed a bit, but it has its uses even in its current state. It’s a lot easier to land against opponents who are forced to stay inside one of the smaller capture circles.
Also, when using ZD offensively, I tend to wait to use it, rather than FB → ZD immediately after teleport. A lot of people will instinctively move or roll away as soon as you teleport to them. I look for targets that have burned their dodges, or that other people have CC’ed / snared.
They really need to update ZD to have the same mechanics as Orb of Light, which will aim where the person is going, and not at their current position. And please tighten the spread. The wiki says it has 600 range, but really anything outside of point-blank range has a 50/50 chance of all hits connecting.
Its good in PvE, its worthless in PvP. Only time I ever use it in PvP is on a downed player or to block projectiles. I never use it to damage players, cause it never hits someone moving.
The only time this attack works is if you catch people by surprise and you are literally and standing so close to them you may as well get married and have 3 kids together. Considering this is meant to be a potential ranged attack it really leaves much to be desired.

IMO a scepter is important in WvW, its the guardians only ranged wep and if you use scepter + ? and sword + ? sets you can have one hand strenghts and get 15% for both :P if u use 1h + 2h it kinda feels like you miss 15% crit chance for one set
and yeah they should see over the guardians 1h weps :/

I just started using the sword and ZD is ok but you have to set it up to be worth much. I run in small group in WvW with a couple of friends and capturing sentry and supply camps is easy with S/GS combo but I do feel it need to be a bit more reliable maybe make it so we can move while we are doing it maybe at reduced speed like Whirling Wrath but stationary skills that are single target are that effective in a game like this.
Otherwise i just slap a bane signet on my bar or wait until my warrior friend snares them and i just blink and pop f1 and watch the numbers fly.

Maybe not many comments because some people don’t think it’s actually broken. Not all weapons need to be all things to all players. If it’s not good in WvW but it’s great for sPvP and PVE, I don’t see a problem with that.

Compared to most burst skills, it’s pretty bad. Low damage (relative), immobilizes you, single target, long cooldown.
The only time this attack works is if you catch people by surprise and you are literally and standing so close to them you may as well get married and have 3 kids together. Considering this is meant to be a potential ranged attack it really leaves much to be desired.
