I dont have much experience playing on guardian – around 40 hours of lvling in wvw, and I am interested in trying staff for tagging lots of mobs in farming events.

Is there some meta build, or simple guidelines for that cause?

The build should have enough survivability to stand in the hearth of zerg and do enough dps to tag every single mob.

AH builds should be close to perfection for mindless zerging. You’ll always have enough allies around for maximum healing and it makes you quite sturdy.

I wouldn’t advise AH in that situation actually. It might heal alot but if the momentum of the zerg defensive skills doesn’t keep you alive, the only think that will really help you is #6 (I like the signet for that situation) and Renewed Focus. I would recommend hammer though. It’s AOE damage goodness all the time and protection at the SAME TIME, unlike the staff where you have to choose between the heal or the AA spamming. The typical 15/15/0/20/20 is perfect as well.

For the LA event. I run staff and gs, then I put 30 into Honor to max out symbols to help with more tagging. The other 40 traits can go wherever.

You can pretty much run anything is these PvE zergs.

and what gear would you suggest for pve zergs?

Just go full knights (heck, even zealots lol) AH/EM. If you’re camping staff for tagging, you’ll be getting constant heals from crits and staff 4 will be an extra nuke heal. Plus the symbol is more tagging plus aoe swiftness. You’ll be pretty hard to kill in a zerg and be tagging like a boss.

Should be fairly easy to stay alive with this build while tagging mobs in a zerg. Swap some of the beserker gear out or use different runes if needed.

• Easy tagging (on staff spam 1, F1, 3 and purging flames on mobs)
• F1 Spam can blind, burn, heal, and give might, vuln and retal which refreshes every time something you tag dies.
• Up to 30 or more conditions removed per minute
• Lots of passive healing (AH and upgraded VoR)
• Lots of boons with +60% duration and +40% MF with food

Another option is a symbol build if you want to help others more.

I do staff with scepter/focus or torch, purging flames, and maybe judge’s intervention if I’m falling behind but usually I’m doing something wrong if I’m not hitting everything.
