Zone Exploration as a Guardian.
I pretty much just always run Retreat and Save Yourselves when I am out doing open world. Those 2 combined with GS leap makes for decently fast movement.
As kerivek said spec Shouts and use retreat and save yourselves , with sword and you should have no issues with exploration. No need for staff or traveler runes. Also if you put a sigil of speed on your main weapon you will have perma swiftness as you kill ambient creatures.
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
I like Retreat anyway, get 50% boon duration and you have full-time runspeed. Works with boon duration builds, if you’re going that way, or Pack runes with Chocolate Omnomberry Creams. Speed runes are an alternative to Traveler, they’re not great, but can complement a low-vitality armor set.
But yeah, the efforts we have to go through for runspeed is painful.
My first world completion was with my Guardian and yes, it was painful. Besides what you have been already told I can suggest to equip a GS and a Sword traiting Right Hand Strength for using Symbol of Blades as often as you can on targets that are off range and then disengaging so you don’t go in combat. F2 can also cover some distance.
Absolutely no point in investing in subpar rune sets, spamming 2 shouts off cooldown, or soloing with a staff.
All you really need is retreat and shout reduction cooldown. You have swiftness for 20 seconds every 24 seconds.
If you want more, you can just use something like https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Chocolate_Orange
It only costs 5c each, and you could put in buy orders for 3c if you really want to pinch those pennies.
That gives 22s of swiftness with retreat.
