Nope, lol.

No but really, there isnt. If we assume a build that traits shield rather than just equipping it (of course you can just equip it) there isnt one… because in terms of traits its a no brainer. You choose between giving yourself 180 toughness, or the entire party 150 toughness. Hell even when playing alone there is barely any point in the shield trait, thats how bad it is. The skills arent so good that the cd reduction help you.

Oh irony… we are Guardians. We are supposed to protect people. We have a shield as our mark but still we are not using it because it sucks. Aaand some kittenty storyteller can heal and Protect people better than us. Even necromancer can bunker better…

i think “active” “utility” protection should always be valued more (something like an interrupt) vs passive protections (stat bonus or just a static shield) – its way more fun…
imo shield skill 1 is okayish, nothing special but not horrible… if they changed shield skill 2 into a two-tier skill (as now) with tier 1: bash, knockback + 1sec daze and tier 2 charge + maybe weaken would be more ineresting and active…

The only good “shielding” builds would include focus instead of shield. Sad to say. v.v
