why on earth would you do this? they are 2 different weapons, yes the same weapon type but different weapons nonetheless so why would they share cool down?

So that we can’t abuse things like double Shield of Wrath, double Leap of Faith, double Binding Blade, double Ring of Warding, double Line of Warding… etc.

From what I’ve gathered, this is because the cooldown is tied to a single skill on the player, not a copy of the skill on the individual weapon. I’m pretty sure all weapon skills do this. This is for reasons that Christos said, imagine a Guardian double banishing you.
