good idea for traps functionality!
The problem with that is that it would make traps nearly useles in PvE. In PvE you drop traps under mobs so they trigger instantly, you cant just put traps somewhere, wait until they have good damage and then lure enemies to them. In PvP this would work and I actually like the idea, but as ANet is refusing to separate PvP from PvE this idea just doen’t work. There are many things that would be so easy to balance if skills had diferent effects in PvE and PvP.

you are right sir, thanks for the supplement.
i thought of this too and after some observation i noticed barely someones using traps in pve. rarely guardians, never ranger or thieves.
and i think that is because their whole functionality is missing.
what maximises the dragons maw in 1min in pvp could be 10seconds in pve.
this will allow new tactics with movement, timing and kiting
Ranger traps are fine, I use them all the time with my condi ranger in PvE. Ranger traps have better functionality than guardian tho, especially fire trap. Fire trap is a combofield so you get might and that fire bubble thingy that spreads burning on attack. Guardian traps are quite boring and they pretty much only deal damage on different ways. My favorite guardian trap is the one that spreads those aegis fragments, it has some secondary functionality.
Ranger traps aren’t meta on PvP but they have their niche. Haven’t really used thief traps but they seem quite weak. Altho if we are talking about functionality, thief traps have propably most of it.
