Guild Wars 2

so i have been playing guardian for a while and its levl 20 at the moment. i was following a build witch was 2 handed sword and burning dmg etc im sure you all know of it. but i want to make my own build considering it was my understanding GW2 would be “play how you want” so i have come up with good concept and need help with it.

keep in mind i am mainly wanting to do this for WvWvW and my generic pve though the game till levl cap. i want the build to be the best of both worlds in the sense that i want it to do good damage but in an oh kitten moment swap my weapons and be able to take hits and have survivability. the weapons i will want to use is great swords for the damage and then shield and mace for the oh kitten button. i never really see much guardians doing mace and shield especially in WvWvW. (i usually see great sword and staff) the perk system still confuses me so if anyone had any input on how i can perk for this build then i would much love that but i mainly ask my fellow guardians what you think of this build idea? i think of it as running in for the fight to deal damage but when it gets out of hand i can be the back bone of the group to help keep our position
