how is condition guardian in HOT atm?
Dragonhunter traits have great damage modifiers. If you take DH for condi, you are kind of wasting the potential.
Condi build is better than what it used to be, but power builds recieved great buffs, which made it even better than condi, making the gap between them bigger.

The wasting potential part is complete nonsense.
Traps in burn builds are extremely powerful especially in HoT where you are likely to fight multiple enemies. Permeating Wrath + Supreme justice + PoB + LJ extremely powerful and gets stronger the more enemies you fight at once. I myself add rune of the mad king which – with any – elite brings this setup so far over the top that you face roll 90% of the content. toss in a GS#2 and 15-20 stacks are pretty much common – on every target!
DHs F3 is a perfect to survive the onslaught of 5+ enemies while they are hit with 4k+ a sec on top of your direct damage dps. in PVE the trap daze is a stun which increases your survivability even more. so anything that is good for the dps variant is also good for burn guard, too. If Hunters Ward wouldnt be so buggy to sometimes only deal damage on the last impact it owuld be even better because you deal serious aoe burn damage from range.
you can go full glass burn and stack vurnability up to 20 stacks without LJ Trap.
I have full berserker and a full sinsiter (converting it to viper atm) set. IMO burn guard outperforms DD guard in HoT by a great margin.
so to OP:
I would say yes! its totally worth it. The more enemies you fight the better burn guard will be. Single target DPS will be better.

@Asmodal
I was talking about instanced pve perspective, I should have been more clear.
In those situations the important thing is single target DPS. I also think condi guard has the highest dps in game against multiple enemies when given the time to apply the burn.
@ Asmdal
I disagree, condi DH is mediocre. Condi Meditation Guards have a higher dmg potential, it’s far easier to burst a 5k / 6k burn stack with a mediation guard than on a condi DH; even with my ball of traps, my DH burn stack would rarely hit for more than 3k dmg. Condi DH is still viable though but its’ burn dmg is a downgrade from regular burn builds.
I did more playtesting; yes it’s possible to achieve 6K burn dmg with traps but that only works on very very specific scenarios, namely, u need a horde of enemies walking into your traps.. On small groups of enemies or single target, DH condi burn dmg is lackluster and LB is an absolute joke at applying burn stacks, symbol of energy is way too static to be effective. If you’re planning to play DH with LB as your main weapon, go direct damage, srsly.
i was playing burn guard with permeating wrath and supreme justice pre HOT and tried it again as DH in HoT and i have to say pure power DH is much stronger than burn guard unless you have a very large amount of enemy mobs in your traps.
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
@Toaster Messiah: well in this case you are right. Single dps zerker is always better.
@unknown: I do not think you disagree totally. Against single target there are other things that come into play, that is for sure. I agree with you that a DH does not offer anything to aid in the damage besides dulled senses but it still has its defensiv potential and really no downside. You need virtues and radiance for damage. Medi guards can only produce 3 stacks easier through JI but thats it.
Truth is however my favorite combo just needs radiance and it does not matter if I am at DH or not – but it does not hurt either. The bow is a waste in those situations- you are completly right with tha. But did not bring it up. (did I?)
I run scepter/torch + sword/shield if I want to hit the full single potential, keeping in mind that I run close to a hybrid burn build with abput 1200 condidamage but with 100% condi duration.
rotations work like this:
Torch#4, Scepter#3, #2, Torch #4, PF … swap … #F2 or enemy just ran twords me, Shield#5, Sword#3, Sword#2.
Talking stacks: 9 from PF, 6 from torch, 3-4 from scepter, 2-3 from sword. so best case scenario I hit those 6k single target as well but still have two traps for 2+ enemies which would be a harder to deal with. working in LJ also provide a 25% damage boost on your burns which is pretty kitten hugh.

As far as I can tell condi guard DPS is well past power guard DPS right now.

Has anyone tried this (condi guard) in a raid environment?
the build: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRDZWE6fL_w
Is it a viable option for raids?
It would do fine. You would lose a little if the bosses are moving a bit too much when you use smite. You would gain a decent buff from boon spill over to your spirit weapons which the graphs don’t account for. The thing it lacks is cc for break bars which comes from just the hammer auto/command but hammer is only up about half the time and binding blade pull which will make you lose out on some dps.
If you can 1) continuously land hits on multiple tatgets and 2) your 6+ burn stacks never gets cleansed then yes, you can make burn guard work in any pve/pvp scenario.
The issue with burn dh is nobody stands around for all of the trap’s ‘hits’ to land. It’s why power DH is more viable than condi. Condi DH is too much of a 1 trick pony. It may work in any random solo casual PvP but no where near competitive. (core burn guard > dh burn guard).

Thx for the replies and thx Obal for the chat we had in-game.
My conclusions after 3 days of testing are similar to yours (sadly, because I enjoy condi guard more than warr):
– condi guard has lower DPS, lowe HP and lower survability through his heals than a condi War.
– condi guard cannot bring much support and here it gets complicated; the support options are on big cooldowns and bringing one or two will cripple the low dps even more.
This is a burn build I’ve been working on. Works good in pvp not sure about pve. This build definitely not a pro league build but is fun when I solo queue
IMO power dragonhunter is better, I have been able to one-shot ele’s with lb2, and then teleport in and drop ToF and PoB. I dunno if burn can match that
As DH is Power better atm but the meta BurnIng build is not so easy to counter as a DH is.
