i like shouts but i play meditations (spvp)
I don’t play sPvP, but may I ask which particular shout build you are comparing meditation build to? “SY!” duration is cut by half in sPvP, which I think is a huge down side of running shout build in sPvP.
From my WvW point of view, I still prefer my shout build than my meditation, even though I really love the pokeball guardian build.

Why bother being a Guardian if you don’t guard anyone?

at meditations i go full to monks focus next i have 5 radiance 2 at zeal and 1 at virtues with zerker amulet and ogre runes and it explodes people
i never noticed the shortened durations of shouts at spvp i was usually playing full bunker with them full honor/valor was playing like that since launch only to discover lately that being on the offensive side is extremely more effective .
weapons are sword /focus for meditaions the other can be anything

Ok well, Meditations give Fury which = more damage. Also just from smite condition you are getting a 2k heal every 16 sec (traited) . Hold the line is on a 30 sec cd and offers about the same healing (traited and geared).
To me it is mathematically a no brainer.
For personal effectiveness, and spvp is often about a 1v1 or 2v2 encounter, Meditations are better for solo play.
If you run a staff and AH. Ok you start to balance that healing out and over take Meditations. But this is at the cost of 1v1 effectiveness and using a weapon that is seriously not fun or offensively effective on its own. It is better in the 4v4 or 5v5 encounters if they happen. You can even gear and take a trait to be a real rezbot, which wins games for your team.
Team play – people lean towards AH bunker
Solo Queueing – Meditations seem to work better given the number of 1v1 and 2v2 that occurs.
I don’t really feel that Meditations are OP. It’s more that with the short CD to other classes offensive abilitities, Shouts seem to fall behind and leave you helpless in smaller encounters because of their long CD.
Anet lied (where’s the Manifesto now?)
How are you measuring this?
I mean, Shouts and Meditation fill completely different niches, making direct comparisons in their effectiveness kinda hard.
