is it worth rolling as an alt?
It is good, good. Good fighter and I can say Guardian is a class well balanced with some minor issues.
like what? (more characters………………………………)
I have a guardian and elementalist, I enjoy them both.
I have four 80s, and Guard is still my favorite. So yes, it’s worth making.
Heavens Rage
hmmm…..how are they doing with nerfs? I have been reading some of the update notes and while eles have been beat to kitten – how are guardians? still as good as the first day they came out?
If you play the game based on buffs and nerfs you should just not play anything.
Most Profession forums are riddled with unnecessary “my class has it worse” comments, which is why you may get the mipression Elementalists are “nerfed” often. Well, Guardians got “nerfed”, and so did Thieves, and so will all Professions, but it’s usually not a big deal, in which you adapt an your character is still effective. Having used the Guardian since the very beginning, I can only say that it’s better now that a number of bugged traits have been fixed, and most “nerfs” have actually been fixes to what have otherwise been too powerful of a weapon skill or ability (indeed we are lucky they don’t a nerf for certain traits/skills I have on mind right now.) In myh opinoin yor choice would be better served by the following: “will I enjoy playing this character?”, rather than whether it will be the subject of future revisions/nerfs, as all Professions get buffed/nerfed with time and as the game evolves.
My main is my Guardian, and my secondary is my Mesmer at the moment. Total opposite gameplay styles, and I am sure you will adapt to the Guardian rather easily (should you choose to play one), though you will still need to get used to the way some unique abilities work.
I am thinking of a guardian only because I want to be on the front line bashing heads. I rolled a mes and became more support. I know your virtues are what makes or breaks you. and if you spec things properly, which don’t take much in terms of points, you have help your allies and really bring down the enemies.
Guardian virtues aren’t the make or break of Guardians lol it is just a really good subset of skills (depending on spec it could be primary).
If your a power player and wan’t to crack heads with high damage. Go warrior.
If your a power player who wants to crack heads using versatility. Go Guardian.
Though if you want to be a God.. go Guardian

At first I saw the class as sorta bland but I wanted a Heavy and warrior seemed even more bland. Guardian is now my main, there are a ton of different viable builds and you’ll be very effective in PvE if you know the content and adjust. Running with 2 guardians that know what they’re doing will always speed up the run and make it easier for everyone (aside from zerk warrior/mez speed runs). GL with your new class.
Blood~
currently one of the strongest classes imho, especially since the mega-nerf on warriors with last patch. guardian has lots of sustainability for himself and for others while still being able to dish out decent dmg (warri does more, but dies too easily now).
ele is fun to play as well, but damage is nowhere near my guardian. support from is more damage oriented though (guardian gives blocks, regen, protection, ele can give might, fury and others)
both classes are fun but totally different to play.
Guardian was the third character I got to level 80. I have a lot invested in my other two characters but I got so into my guardian that she is now my new main. Totally worth rolling!
