Q:
just hit 80; for support WvW. What to buy?
I run mostly cleric stuff (following that 0/0/10/30/30 healway build).
Whatever stats you choose, I’d recommend spending 30 laurels on an amulet. It’s the best deal on an ascended item.
Spend your karma on the temple gear (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Exotic_karma_armor), whatever stats fit best to your build (soldier gear is a good start since you’re not goin for much DPS stats. You can then start replacin it with whatever you want. Healing power doesn’t scale super awesome with our skills so it’s manageable and livin longer will help you learn your skils). Karma won’t be useful much later on so just spend it now. Weapons are pretty cheap, you can buy them with gold.
You can start savin WvW badges for cleric armour to replace the temple stuff if cleric gear is where you wanna go. In WvW you’re earnin 3 currencies (badges, gold, and karma) so just spend them as you can (karma can be traded for gold through craftin or tradin for lost jewellery boxes http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Crusader_Benson). WvW generally is a very poor way to get rich in the game though.
It’s faster to farm dungeon armour (the tokens come much, much faster than WvW and more gold too). Doin the Fractal daily at level 10 Fractals also will earn you ascended rings so that can save you gold on that too (also a fair bit of gold doin Fractals).
pick and AH build that suits your playstyle, grab knights armor, get a decent staff and hammer and load them up wiht sigils of energy, and off you go.
Change the build as you see fit once you are used to it.
other good support builds are shout or consecration builds, but AH is a good place to start, as you can still use shouts and consecrations at an effective level in it, but you cant AH without building for it.
Personally I dont like clerics, some people do, but my set sits in my bank unused.
