Q:

If I’m running a high toughness build with around 50% crit chance + blood sigil (lifesteal on proc) + truffle rav. food (more toughness), what would be a better choice:

Master mantenience oil to increase crit chance to around 55%
or
Superior sharpening stone for the power increase?

Thank you for your time.

With those stats, I think the sharpening stones might give you a slight edge on effective power. ( from a pure numbers perspective )

Depending on your traits, you may already have enough precision to benefit from on crit bonuses

To be honest, you have reasonably balanced stats, so there’s probably very little real-world difference between them – I suggest you spend some time running with each one and decide which has the best feel for you.

Personally I always prefer more precision.

Right, since I’m at ~ 50% (56 with oil, 48 without), I’m not sure if the 8% is worth the 184 point increase in power. The only thing that gives me pause is the “on crit” effects I have…(sigil of blood, vigorous precision and empowering might). Here’s a pic of my traits as well:

Well Vigorous Precision has an ICD of 5 seconds, so generally anything above 20% crit chance is good enough.

For the sigil you’re looking at a difference of about 14.4% and 16.8% chance of a proc with stones and oil respectively and I think despite the tooltip saying it’s a 2 second ICD, it is infact 5 seconds.

Empowering Might with its 1 second ICD is the only one where you might feel a difference, and I guess that will depend on your party composition, for getting maximum procs off Altruistic Healing.

True Tarsius….
Now that I think about it, considering the slow hits of the hammer, I’ll need every critical hit I can get in order to maximize AH, the lifesteal sigil and EM.
I guess the oil wins?

Always go for the stones unless your critical chance is below 20% (30% is the standard for most non RHS builds) The only time I would say oil is better otherwise is if you are running omnomberry pies as well for more leech on crit. 50% is more than good enough crit to keep EM up almost 100%, the only exclusion might be hammer due to its lack of multi- hit attacks, however in group settings the symbol can easily hit multiple people, giving it an easier chance to crit and get you procs. Also as a last point, the added power you get, will always give you more damage than the added crit you will.
