not a guard->guard needs more mobility
dude, really? do you really own a guard and say they dont have speed?
- staff
2 shouts
with that you get perma speed

lol. I meant a viable non kittenty way.
Everybody else needs less mobility, actually.
This game features the most running away of any PvP MMO I’ve played….most require you to avoid or commit a fight and once you are in you are usually in to the death (or a stalemate).
(And it’s not making the game more fun IMO…)

mobility is mobility, what’s the problem with that?
staff is one of the best weapons in the game for guardians

Sure Staff is great, it’s one of the best weapons for Zerg, and small group play, but in 1v1s and solo roaming, well it’s not efficient. Also i never pick up retreat, imo the skill isn’t worth a 60-48 sec CD for 20 sec of Swiftness and 1 aegis(unless ofc you’re running with a group/zerg.) The fact that you have to use SY, Retreat and Staff, shows how much we have to sacrifice to get a speed boost compared to other classes :|

Lerious Warhowl – Charr Warrior – [SHD] Shade Warband – Tarnished Coast
^^ I would think this says something about the suitability of using this class in 1 vs. 1 and solo roaming.
Guards also have 2 flash jumps that will port you right on some one with out any ability for a person to stop them and they have one “ok” true leap with GS that can be used to run. Guards have very good mobility as is now other classes say War mainly have too much running away mobility where guards have very bad running away mobility is that more on the lines of what your talking about?

We do have a lot of movement options but to get the most out of your movement options as a Guardian means you’ll probably be taking at least one weapon that you may not like to take that may not even work with your build and then use 1-3 utility slots (Retreat, SY, JI) as opposed to using one utility for a +25% movement speed bonus and using whatever the hell build/weapons you want.
Don’t even get me started about actually keeping a foe in melee range if/once you actually get to them….

I disagree with that.
Guardians need snares on other weapon sets other than scepter/hammer. Guardian’s ability to running away from the enemy is fine because Logan specialize in this(har har), but Guardians have terrible chasing skills and maneuverability.
Glacial heart is prime candidate for buffing. It just need tweaking that all weapons can use it.
A 30 second cooldown may be unfavorable but when you use Leap of faith to crit and then use whirling wrath the results show.

Yep, we can chase down every class sans necro with that. /s
A meditation guardian is already a lot faster than someone with Perma-swiftness.
The main issue is that it’s mostly burst speed and not a reliable means of keeping someone in melee range so we have to sacrifice sigil or utility slots for soft CC.
As Zosk points out, you really need to reduce most profession’s escapability rather than boosting our own speed.
The only buff I think might be interesting would be for guards to be immune to in-combat slowdown.

Yes and it also demand that we go support to have speed.
Mobility goes beyond having swiftness. Thieves and warriors aren’t fast because they have a lot of swiftness, even though that is part of it.
Retreat is not worth the CD, and if you’re using Save Yourselves, better make sure you won’t be fighting anything soon. Staff is amazing, but in 1v1 situations, it’s not the best. If you could use Empower while on the move, Line of Warding didn’t have that long of a cast animation, and Orb of Light was homing, it’d be much different. Then again, if all that happened, it would probably be broken. Guardians really aren’t that mobile, but at the same time they kind of are. 3 Teleport skills, but all of them need either a target or someone close. 3 ways to gain swiftness, but 2 are on really long cooldowns, and the 3rd is tied to the staff, which is really not good if you’re doing 1v1, or roaming (with the exception of the movement necessity.) GS has a gap closer, it’s kind of short, but it’s still something, and that’s pretty much it.
I enjoy small group roaming and large group zerging, so staff is optimal, but those times when I’m solo roaming, honestly, I’d much rather just run at normal speed than use my staff. At least if i’m caught, I have a chance to survive on more than just my GS lol
risen squire have perma criple and stun quite frequently.
can we have some of that benevolent

I still think the problem with Guardian’s mobility isn’t getting away from or getting to foes, it’s keeping foes within a range that makes whatever weapon you’re using effective. You know, like how pretty much every other profession’s weapons work.
You can’t really get away from someone you can’t snare and by the same token, you can’t really do a whole lot of melee damage to someone you can’t snare either.
I don’t want to turn this into another “Guardians need snares!” thread but I do think that a lot of these mobility issues are tied to the fact we can’t limit other class’ mobility nearly as much as they can limit ours.
