looking for suggestions
Small 4-5 man roaming guild, we run condi Mesmer, power engi, venom share thief, and maybe… well group makeup can change a bit but anyway.
I was looking at running a Shout build with Soldiers, running Staff and either GS or 1H Sword plus shield (?), just looking for any input.
My mains are a Necro, Mesmer, and a thief, but we were hurting for support and I volunteered myself to roll a guardian, just hit 80 and uhmmm yeah….. looking for input

For support, 0/0/2/6/6 is the best possible build to go. You can also try 0/1/6/6/1, this will give you more sustain but less support. There are also other variances such as 0/0/6/6/2 and 0/0/4/6/4, however the first two I mentioned are the most common. You definitely want staff, but the other weapons can vary. I personally like going with the hammer for the CC it brings, so you can help lockdown targets for your team to burst. I’ll put links to give you a general idea on how it should look.

if you want a full support role you will end up with 0 damage output in most of cleric/support guardian build and in gw2 a class with 0 damage is quite useless because there is no need of “healer”.
So i suggest you to go for an offensive shout build or virtue + consecrations or, better idea, go with a support elementalist (they can do damage + support without care much about build and they get many utilities simply in weapon skills).
Also if you are sure you want to stick with a guardian I can suggest you few supportive builds:
0/0/6/6/2 with shouts
4/0/6/0/4 with consecrations
0/0/6/4/4 with consecrations
0/0/2/6/6 (based on virtues)
4/3(4)/6/0/1(0) for burst build because as someone will say “no threat no danger” :P

Well, if your team has dps down and you’re looking for full support, this might work. Tons of healing power so you’ll be pumping out quite a bit. I tossed mace in with longer symbols, so you’ll be able to apply a ton of high regen stacks. Team can stack up, put down both symbols and use empower while regen/swiftness build. Good amounts of protection and stability too. 1600hp dodge rolls with energy sigils and a good amount of vigor.
You could also swap out hammer for mace/shield. Good amounts of protection when using it and some CC with immob, banish and ring of warding. I’d prefer mace with that kind of healing power though, and would build more with soldiers gear for hammer and utilize intelligence sigils on swap for mighty blow.

- Point Control for kiting a zerg?
- Hybrid of Dmg + minor heal / boon / CC?
Maybe you don’t need to roll a guardian, maybe you need a Staff Ele? Or maybe, you need a Thief as all your group really needs is Stealth + some Deeps? Maybe you need a Warrior’s Stun Locking and Shout Healing.

Staff, Hammer, Mace/Shield = all good support / point control.
Sword/Focus (or shield) + GS = Burst Dmg and Blind Spam.

Condi cleanse and healing is what I am focusing on. Currently running Clerics armor with Soldiers runes, a mix of Clerics trinkets and Zerkers, and Zerker weapons (will probably change to sentinel). I tried 4/6/4 last night using “Chris’s” updated build, and tonight will run the 2/6/6.
I started with GS sword/focus then swapped to Staff sword/shield. Tonight will probably try Staff Sword/Focus.
Is going for Nomads gear gonna drop my dps so low that it just isn’t worth it?
