Guild Wars 2

So I’m a dungeon runner and I love both Sword/shield and greatsword in terms of gameplay and aesthetics. I keep both weapon sets on me at all times and I spec 0/15/30/20/5 AH/crit build with empower for damage and survivability with any set and have scepter/focus as secondary for ranged and protection.

However, it has come down to deciding which legendary weapon I will choose and I’m torn between sunrise and bolt. I love sunrise and the special effects it has, but I also love bolt and the lightning is awesome (not to mention then I’d be motivated to get the flameseeker prophecies later if I wanted).

I wanted to know other people’s opinions on these weapons to help me decide which one to ultimately aim towards. Thanks

hey Pigwig! i’d say ultimately, it depends on if you prefer using the sword/shield combo more, or the greatsword. i know i’m not really answering your question directly, lol, but in the end, it’s what you feel more affinity towards and feel more comfortable using. personally i haven’t used the sword in a LONG time. more of a hammer / GS user, paired with either staff or scepter + focus/shield.

if you want to stand out more, i’ve definitely seen more sunrises than bolts. i personally am a fan of both. but ahhh, having both bolt and the flameseeker would be AWESOME. i was planning to go for the flameseeker prophecies but we’ll see how that goes since i don’t use the shield that much anymore.

in terms of actual gameplay, i feel the GS is slightly more versatile for dungeons, mainly because of the #5 pull as well as the PBAoE from most of the attacks. at the same time, i feel you can benefit from AH more using the GS. the sword itself is extremely mobile, gives very good single target DPS and you can pair that up with focus / shield and or focus at any given time.

In my case, Flameseeker makes sense since I usually use the shield with either sword or mace. And since I already have the Fiery Dragon Sword, what more can I ask for? Nothing is classier/cooler than a GW1 reference. However, in practice, I am not even aiming to farm for the Legendary shield, and will do so casually/semi-casually, if I ever get it.

To OP, whichever you enjoy using more, and will make you happiest. Don’t think too much about what others will think when you use it, but what you will think and how you’ll feel about it. Sometimes we play better when we are enthused about our characters, and something as silly as fun pixels may help you out/enhance the fun you get out of your gaming experience.

(Myself, I am not a fan of Legendaries at all, truth to be told. )

I love sword/shield combo, my only issue with it in dungeons and fractals is that it offers absolutely no combo fields or combo finishers. The utility that these offer in groups is substantial.

Hmm, I personally think Bolt’s effects can get really annoying…the constant crackle of electricity can drive a man insane.
