Hey !
I want to try and go in tPvP with a 5 guardian team. the strong points of the team would be :

• High stability uptime —> no CC .
• good ability to cleanse condition as a team
• 20+ might stacks and boon spam

BUT using 5 guardians comes with :

• Bad mobility.
• (Potential) lack of DPS.
• Few ranged damage option/weak to ranged damage team.

While pretty much nothing can be done about mobility, how would you deal with the range/DPS issue ?
Let’s craft the best 5 guards comp !

What do you mean by bad mobility? A 5 Guardian team could have all the stability and speed they could possibly want. Guardians supporting other Guardians in a team … probably one the most solid makeups you could ask for, even with a lack of ranged damage.

The only weakness I see in the class that can’t be addressed with numbers is a lack of stackable damage conditions against a strongly bunkered team.

Been wanting to do this for a while now. I recommend x/x/6/x/x builds across the board. No more than two traiting for Absolute Resolution (my opinion). And definitely at least one guard running staff/x with Cleric for the might and team support. The rest can go Zerkers with maybe one Carrion for the sustain aoe.
As for range, the best we have are justice intervention and sword. Could have a guard or two designated to take out rangers first.

By lack of mobility I meant you can never move faster than thief/ele/mesmer(portal) as a guardian even with perma swiftness.
An yeah you pretty much lack dps against bunkesr (depends on guardians builds) + getting some furry would be nice.

A first draft team would be :

• bunker guard (meta)
• GS +Scepter/Focus DPS guard
• 2x Support guardian hammer + Staff or GS. Taking slot for hallowed ground/Purging flames/Wall of reflection (0/0/2/6/6 )
• Last slot would be some kind of joker mediationXsymbol or maybe some condi/burn guard.

You would need Soldier/Zerker/Barbarian or Celestial amu on the Support guard though because the team needs dps.

What you need to video is the 5 guardians vs 5 Ele’s. I am not sure their health bars would move.

If I made a five man Guard team it would consist of:

Two bunker guards preferably 0/0/2/6/6.
Two meds, I’d like them to go full blown dps so 2/6/6/0/0.
A hybrid build, probably 0/1/6/6/1 with zerker ammy.

Reminds me of my WoW days when we’d run 10 man AB groups with nothing but Paladins…

If I was a betting man I’d say hot join will be ok, but the 5 would get wrecked with a group that has played together a while. But I’ll be the first to admit I hold the right to be incorrect

Nah we cant go hot-join, because ez win and auto-balance war.
But some kind of “special event” in custom arena could be good.

That is very true.

Interesting idea, sounds like fun. Something like this would be my best educated guess.

2 medi guards (x-sceptor/focus)
1 or 2 support/DPS Staff/Hammer 0-x-6-x-4 (probably celestial+runes of pirate, strength, or even pack)
1 or 2 of the following 0-1-6-6-1 support bunker, 1 x-x-x-6-6 control bunker.
