I’m a person who likes to take my charecters on a more supportive role
and i taken my charecter that road too. And i was amazed by how much of a punch he can take as supportive role.
my build with him in trait is
30 X honor
30 X virtue
10 X valor
and i thought he would lack survivability but he turned out to be loaded with HP, and responed very well with the retaliation boon. but i really have an issue with the utility spells because i am not sure what fits every situation.
would really like some suggestions, thanks.
Since you’re spending points in Honor, I’d suggest using shouts, especially for PvP.
What type of content are you talking about? Because for PvE I found it difficult to see how much impact my support was having, making it very unrewarding.
As for utilities: probably Shouts or Consecrations.

in PvE i use signet of Signet of Judgement with Great Sword and Mace\shield. his less supportiv in PvE he has great survivability thanks to his high HP and countering and the signet makes it easier to survive against high mobs.
in some areas its hard when its a higher level but thats less of an issue
My support path was actually 30 honor/valor and 10 radiance (for faster signets – signet heal is really powerful with full healing gear – its a full heal). I run staff and mace/shield so I can double as support and tank, basically. It works exceptionally well in pve and really good (though mostly just pure staff) in pvp. The nice thing about those lines is you can focus on either meditations or shouts depending on how you want to build.
my support build is currently
30/10/0/20/10
though im probably going to switch to either 30/0/0/20/20
or 30/0/0/30/10
just to get the added support options, there are alot of fights where i definetly save lives and i love it. So much anti range X_x Shield of the avenger is op if it would just spawn in the right spot.
What about something like this?
To be honest, I am still pretty overwhelmed by all the character build options and really struggling to figure out what I want to do w/my Guardian (currently level 62)
I like the support provided by the consecrations, so I keep wanting to go into the Virtues trait line, but only one of them grants a boon (stability, granted by Hallowed Ground) so the line’s +boon duration seems meh. That is, unless I start swapping out consecrations for skills that provide boons (like shouts), but then I diminish the impact a trait like Master of Consecrations can provide.
I figure all this is because ANet wants us to be well rounded characters, but it certainly makes choices harder when creating a build lol.
Edit: Of course, if I paid more attention, I’d realize that the Virtues trait line causes all three virtues to grant a personal boon. So nm this post lol.

Here’s my support build:
Steady, sustained damage due to burn and a high crit with sword. Permanent 2-4 stacks of Might on all nearby allies. Good damage against burning enemies (i.e, all of them). Versatile, active support.
Sword+Shield and Mace+Focus lets you adapt fast. Chain blinds if you want. Or chain blocks. Or both. Good anti-projectile. Good team boons. Near constant Vigor.
