my main is guard and its fair to say the burning is too high much too high

Actually the burn is powerfull. It deal a very high damage, some times too much damage.
But there’s other classes that can deal better condition damage. Ele, engi and some skilled mesmers and rangers can deal a very high condition damage, more high than what a guardian can do.
And you have to count that the Guardian can Only inflict Burn. That make him very very weak against classes with coindi removal like guardians (that clean conditions for all the team), eles and warriors. A warrior can simply swap it’s weapon to clean all your stacks of burn because it’s the only condition that you inflict (or the first that cleaning skills will celan). And a lot of classes can transfer they’re conditions on you, like mesmers and necros.
Other classes can inflict a large amount of burn, bleed and poison, plus weakness, vulnerability, cripple, making you unable to clean all the condition damage with only a single skill.
And have you ever see a ele play with burning? kitten , they inflict a bigger amount of burn stacks and they add to that 20-25 stacks of Might, making they’r condition damage so high that you really can’t fight them. I’ve a friend that play condi ele and deal 10k/sec with more or less 15-18 stacks of burning, that can apply to you in lesser than 6 seconds if you’re not good enough to dodge/block/blind/clean.
I can’t inflict 15 stack of burn in a Real fight. A condition ele can.
the problem with it even if its only 1 condition is that it got huge dmg dot. 5-6k dps which few combo can get it.
i got null field and 2 sigil and torch and i still got killed because 2 guard target me so its doable dmg so in 2 sec i got killed unless i run away.
in 1v1 i won but in 2v1 i lost if i havent back away. so in pvp where you nedd to cap points 2 guards like that can win 2v2 and even 2v3 as its aoe dmg
also mesmer cant get those numbers in condi build
also necro cant

Nope but I’ve seen burning guards, when they use symbol just dodge out wait for it to pass and he’s dead, but yes burning is a problem but burning guardian is crap overall (you need to stand still in symbols not like other classes have it in their autoattack or weapon skills without standing in one place – except ranger). But saying instant death means that you don’t know your surounding and don’t watch over your conditions.
Other classes are more broken and OP (see Thief, Warrior, Necro, Mesmer,Ele)
Lol who uses symbols for burn guard? I’d rather not get cleansing bolts from the light field. If you see Purging flames go down, they are going to Leap of Faith (fire shield) and then Whirling wrath for fire bolts with the whirl finisher. Its the same as zerk guard, avoid the same stuff.
This guy, pretending his main is a guardian when its actually a mesmer. I dont use condi guard very much but please pollute someone else s forums instead of the guardian forums. Thanks.
Agree with the other postings. Your team got heavily outplayed. I question whether or not yall were prepared for the encounter at all.
I’ll throw out some hints.
Whirling Wrath takes a single dodge to counter (at first engagement) and Guardian’s in general are easily kiteable. Judge’s intervention takes a single (or team) cleanse to counter. They just wasted a heal and a potential burn burst. More importantly, they have 1 less stunbreak now.
If they all traited Permeating Wrath, spread your party out At All Times. No excuses. Don’t get caught in their symbols. If they all were indeed using Permeating Wrath then their biggest hard counter, other than cleanses, is hard CC. One of them would need to sacrifice a medi utility to obtain any form of Stability. If not then any Necro + Engi comp will dominate this team.
If they don’t take Permeating Wrath and chose Indomitable Courage, you now don’t have to worry about any condi bursts from whirling wrath or symbols nearly as much as only 1 teamate will receive a burn at any one time. The only bursts you have to worry about is Purging Flames, Judge’s intervention and the throw on Torch #4. Again, a single condi cleanse can remove these 3 items at once. It’s no wonder they went 2/2/1 strategy, they’re ignoring a team fight.
Any condi team can seem OP but we all know how well they perform in TPvP. I really don’t think 4 condi guards are viable on a competitive level because we can get outplayed too easily. I do feel that condi guard can work on certain team comps though… assuming arenanet doesn’t nerf our 1 and only damaging condition.

I’ve make a test. With a direct damage build I can deal more damage than with a condition build, more quickly and with CC skills that help me (GS 5).
Guardian can be a very big enemy and Burn need a little reduction on it’s damage or stack ability, but if you nerf burn the Guardian can say goodbye to all it’s hope to have a condition build (the only good thing from that patch), while all the other classes can play they’re powerful condition builds like nothing was happen

So let me get this straight. You win 1v1 and you lost 2v1, so your complaining that your new shiny OP mesmer should what…? be able to win 2v1 against 2 x burst medi guards? 4 of ANY profession will cause you problems, as others have eluded other professions can dor more condi damage than guardians.

i dont complain about beeing out played 2v1 rather being down in 3 sec cause burning did about 10k dps from both (5k each )
did you all watch the video of some player testing this build against all classes
thiev was down in 2 sec
also as saiyen said to counter it we must plya out of the point from range- -lossing points while they control it even if we won 1 point we lost 2 other
and as i always mention about burning guard even b4 the patch . the burning is 1 condition but easily applied over and over thus cleans it wont save you after 4 cleanse.
and i played condi mesmer. my team was thief, engi, warrior and pug
The only time I’ve been downed by a burn guard, once, when the patch first landed and I expected a medi guard. That was also the last time as I have been happily cleaving them with my marauder medi guard. Never lost 1v1 to a burn guard since. It’s simple, don’t let the stacks get too high but don’t cleanse immediately at one stack either. Cleanse AFTER they do their rotation. Same as how you would deal with any other condi stacking class. Also for the love of god don’t stand in the fire.
I do feel that while condis are particularly strong and burning may need tweaking, people are just not used to playing with the new build system and not used to dealing with condi guards.
Similarly, 2 mesmers on the other team = cluster kitten for opposing team. If you see 4 guards on the opposite team, maybe switch out some skills/traits to better deal with specific guard bursts and condis.

You still don’t get my point. 2 of ANY profession would do that you. How is it easily applied over and over? It simply is not the case. You also massivly outrange them, have stealth, blind on shatter and you should be able to kill them in one rotation.
This is simply, you getting upset that you have died and instead of learning how to counter something using the new traits aNet gave mesmers (and they are some very nice buffs to condi cleanse) your trying to fight condition heavy players with your standard zerk shatter mesmer with one cleanse and expect to win? This is now a typical scenario we see on the forums, instead of players learning and getting better, they come on the forums and expect nerfs.

Burn guard is countered hard by anyone with a few cleanses as they rely entirely on 1 condition for condi damage.
Step 1: go to general forums
Step 2: read Jon’s post – “what we know”
Step 3: enjoy the game as it is today, tomorrow it won’t be this way
This isn’t a Guardian issue, it is a condition and burn issue related to the patch. If you have trouble then you shouldn’t be here to say it is a issue but here to ask a question on counter play. Furthermore, if you have a Guardian then you should also be asking what will we do once we get hit with adjustments either because:
A. they are necessary
Or B, which is what I tend to think will happen,
B. Collateral damage and disable/adjust too far burning/condition damage on Guards
Right now it is more of a post patch issue rather than Guardians being OP. They already had a trait disabled. Engineers had one. Rangers had a fix. More is coming. Hold on and in the mean time just play or take a break.
