trying to find a good build for dps/support
or would mace/shield and staff be better? i really cant find anything that decisive!
wahhh lol
talking about pve or Dg run, for dps support i go with hammer\mace+ focus, but it can work with shield too (its less useful anyway) i change mace to scepter, and hammer with staff, for the fights i cant handle on melee range.
Dont focus on a single weapon set, but keep at least one weapon per type in your inventory.
It doesn’t suck your life away and force you onto a grinding treadmill"
LOL
I personally enjoy using the 0/15/30/20/5 setup with my traits and the ascalon precision/vitality/healing armor and knights or clerics trinkets set.
The great thing about this trait setup is having access to a multitude of major traits that synergize well with each other: A meditation build, altruistic healing, 2 handed mastery, reduced cooldowns on shouts, 5 sec of might stacks on criticals, improved symbols, etc… You also have access to improved virtue activation bonuses (which work very well in group settings when combined with altruistic healing).
The 15 in radiance helps with the dps by increasing your crit chance and the application of blinds and burning both while solo farming and group play. You can also reduce the cooldown on signets or apply vulnerability with blinds. When combined with sword/focus or greatsword you can keep vulnerability and blind on an enemy for quite some time.
The higher crit chance also works well with the honor and valor trait lines because of the increased crit damage and gaining vigor on crits. Vigor means more dodging, more dodging means more AoE burst healing for you and the group. The healing effect applied with the dodge roll scales very well with +healing gear, as well as having the ability to evade spike damage much more often with the vigor from crits.
As an added bonus, this is not a weapon-centric setup. It is relatively well balanced, has decent survivability, and it is very flexible. With that being said, there is bound to be a combination of Major traits to compliment just about any set of weapons you would be interested in using.
In terms of skills, you are obviously going to able to optimize meditations to the full extent, but you will still have access to cooldown reduction traits for both signets and shouts as well. While i’m solo grinding and depending on how independent the dungeon group is i’ll go with a meditation build and sprinkle in a shout like “hold the line!” along with judges intervention and smite condition for mobility, condition removal, burning, healing, regeneration, and protection. Combined with the condition curing healing signet, purity, frequent blinds, and healing dodges you have a multitude of ways to support the group, reverse, mitigate, and prevent damage for yourself as well as the group.
Another example of syngergies possible with this build:
Hammer/Staff/Altruistic Healing/Might inducing crits, virtue active abilities, renewed focus, Shouts- You’ll be handing out more boons that your group will know what to do with and altruistic healing will just about keep your health topped off at all times.
A final note, remember that just because something isn’t traited doesn’t mean that you can’t use it. It simply means that it won’t be optimized for the maximum effect. Spirit weapons ( the sword in particular) offer a great boost to dps while in a dungeon or group setting. concecrations are the same way.
10/0/30/30/0. Mace/GS. Trait for Writ of Persistence and whatever else you want and go crazy. Based on my math the only thing that will give you more DPS is going 10/30/30/0/0 with scepter/GS.
I haven’t extensively tested it though. There may be higher DPS combinations out there but I think this is the best.
