Mesmer is unfun to play against and does everything better than thieves.
Hoping those two get gutted with nerfs
for pve you get atleast 10 points in zeal and radiance then throw the other 4 points in what ever you want but for pvp you get VERY little in zeal and radiance and put 6 points in valor and 2 or more in virtues. why is it so different?? they don’t even resemble each other even though they are both dps builds

Because
- PvE need good DPS, while PvP need good burst damage. That’s why skill like Hammer 2 or smite Condition are great in PvP, but not really useful in PvE.
- In PvE you have a group to provide buff. Only the best at providing it will provide it, while the other will focus on their strength. In PvP you won’t have a team to provide you fury, might, vulnerability, etc. So for exemple guardian isn’t great a providing fury so in PvE he focus on something else. But for PvP Guardian is good at self fury and that give him more dps to do so since he probably will never get fury from a team-mate.
- Support and Survivability is different in PvE and PvP. Going PvE meta build in PvP will get you kill rather quickly. PvE is about slow but hard hits and you focus on stuff like aegis and dodge for that. But for PvP you will receive a lot of small hits and need more sustain than just dodge/block can provide. You also need to protect yourself against condition a lot in PvP, but not so much in PvE.
Because they’re completely different games, mostly because enemies play too :P
A PvE meta build is designed so it brings no more than the support you ALREADY KNOW you’re going to need and puts everything else in raw offense.
For the guardian, those Zeal and Radiance points are mostly Power and Precision stats, damage multipliers and a bit of vulnerability. The only true additional mechanic is VoJ recharge on kill, which is obviously more useful for fighting packed trashmobs than for PvP.
In PvP there’s nothing like enough utility or survival. It changes depending on what you’re facing and how it plays, so builds need to be much more balanced and well rounded, not just for Guardian but mostly for any class (except maybe for power necro, where PvP and PvE builds are quite similar).
On top of that, enemy health pools are WAY smaller and fast kills are much more related to a good CC and burst combination (which the enemy will actively try to avoid) than to steady deplenting a huge bar. You can still be a serious threat with far less raw offense and that damage loss, while noticeable, is far better than being easily focused down by the enemy team.
Finally, the meditation skillset (condi removal, instant damage and mobility) is just much, much more useful for PvP.
Because unlike in PvE, other players in PvP will actually react to what you do and require you to actually be able to adapt to unpredictable situations.
