100% Map completion solo ?
Depends if you count WvW map or not(part of map completion), cause it is impossible to solo keeps/SM, and pretty much waste of time to solo towers.
For PvE map, I either just beat my way there, or use staff with blink+decoy+viel+MI if it is too tough to solo.

Thank you for the reply. I am worried about Orr at the present moment.
Have any Mesmer’s out there get 100% map completion soloing ? Getting to 80 wasn’t a problem but I have yet to get 100% map completion on my own.
If so, care to share your build, skills, and weapon selection ?
I 100%ed PvE with a sword/pistol + scepter/sword combo, ran 15/30/0/25/0.
skills were timewarp, decoy, nullfield and blink.
IIRC PvE was no problem at all. Just took a bit of time to go all around.
WvW was another issue. There are simply some areas that you will probably never get unless your server is the correct colour for that week (WvWvW has 3 colors, one for each team that is determined by past weeks performance)
For me it took 3 months to get world completion all because 1 tower in Eternal Battlegrounds, deep in blue territory, simply never flipped, and at the time Jade Quarry was green every single week.

Yah Orr took the longest of the PvE areas for me too. There are some good online guides for getting the tough to reach ones. I can’t recall if you need the temples to be flipped to get everything…
It took a while because of our slow speed, but it’s definitely possible. I wasn’t in a guild for a while so I had to get map completion on my own

i got 66% solo and the only reason im not doing the other 34% is because there’s no point to do it. Run a power build with good amount of toughness and i don’t see how could it be hard. I mapped the whole old annoying orr with CC on every corner solo and i don’t think i died once from mobs, only fall damage
So, I normally wouldn’t recommend this, but my immortal build does perform nicely in solo pve, with the one warning that your kill speed will be very slow: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/Guide-The-Immortal-Mesmer-Build/first
You will not be mowing things down rapidly in this build, but you will be extremely safe. You won’t ever come across something that really threatens to kill you, even in Orr.
That being said, it’s really not necessary. Most any strong build will do fine for open world, again, even in Orr.
World completion on my mesmer at 100%. Didn’t feel that bad at the time — especially since phantasms are like spammable minions.
My only complaint is the lack of swiftness without Centaur runes — it is painful traversing a map.
Soloed all the way; in my case, I didn’t rely on sheer power but rather on stealth. You got many ways to render yourself invisible or to slower down mobs that it’s np even getting nasty skill points near champions. Mass invisibility + focus curtain/pull will do the job for basically anything; cast MI, curtain, start channeling the skill point and, when you are again visible and the mob starts approaching you, pull. Then you just run away with blink or leaving decoys here and there.
The only annoying thing was really the lack of swiftness but, running with focus + centaur runes made it less detestable.
To get WvW map, you just wait for maps to rotate and go esplore your corner of land every week. Once again, invisibility does the job for basically anything and I like the thrill of it
Yes I have 100% completion on my mesmer. Most of it was solo. WvW with the zerg.
Sometimes I partied with other people, but not due to difficulty, more to decrease the amount of boredom.
You don’t need a party, you’re a team of 4 yourself.
Thanks for all the feedback. Really helpful.

Appreciate your link and great vids sir.
PvE is easy solo, I ran a shatter build, IP & Decoy, Most equipped skills Blink, Signet of inspiration, Mass Invis, flexible last slot, Boon Duration Runes, Mix of Knight, Berserker & Valk armour, Staff, Sword, Focus, for WvW, I was part of a large Guild that would help take the whole map during Asian Prime, look for a server to Transfer to if you really get stuck for a week to fill in any missing points if its only 100% you want then it is easily achievable.
Currently at 95%, with a Condi or half-Condi spec. Got burned out on it for a while, but thinking of doing the last bit I need (mainly Harathi/Field of Ruin, methinks). It’s easier to do the WvW part now, with random server colours. I took months to get a few Green locations, beforehand.
Other 80s: Any but Warrior
I did it solo and my story is similar to others. I was level 80 nine days after the pre-release and the only reason it took that look is because I was completing each map I came across. Back then, Orr was hell but it was far more populated so it wasn’t that hard to max. There is one skillpoint in Cursed Shore that’s guarded by a champion and I know you will have trouble with it. While it can be soloed, you have to be on the top of your game to do so. It’s much easier to sneak by it and grab the skillpoint before it walks back into aggro range.
WvW, is an entirely different matter. I remember my guildmate telling me that at one point, we had all 4 battlegrounds and I didn’t bother to grab all the stuff I needed then because I hate WvW for the most part. That was one of the dumbest things I have EVER done! I was on Crystal Desert then and we were at the top of the T3 rotation. However, we would then move to T2 and be the prison kitten of Blackgate and Isle of Janthir. It took 45 to 60 days more for me to complete WvW areas and I hated every second of it. It’s also the reason why I refuse to do map completion again.

With the new matchup system, getting your wvw points is usually just a matter of a week or 2.
You’re all really talking about strategies and builds for PvE open world exploring? O_o
The only thing I would offer as advice is to get Centaur runes, on a throw away masterwork armor if must be, and use a Focus. 100% swiftness is all you’ll want against the tedium.
Otherwise you could do it naked.
phantasm build/shatter, with all invis skills in utility+elite so you can grab some skill points or get past mobs without aggro, doesn’t matter much really, pve is pve and it is only map completion. I have 7% to explore and soloed most of it, listen to Kanto and get Centaur runes, put one on aqua breather too, don’t forget your spear #2 and #4 and you will be running all around the place in no time.
Orr is easy on any class esp on mesmer since we can stealth. If you are hving problem in orr you most likely need toughness.
For some of the SP that have champs on top of them in Orr leading them away and then teleporting back to the SP and capping it before they get back worked for me when stealth was too short.
WvW might take a while since your server needs to flip keeps for you to get them.

Did it mostly solo on two mesmers. Not hard, just need to think like a mesmer.
