I have recently watched a pvp video, where the maker of the video said, his life became harder as a mesmer since he finished 100% map, because his clones doesent get the little golden star, that you main character wears after finishing the map. This makes it easier for the other players (enemies) to tell him apart from the clones.

Is that so? I dont have 100% map yet, but I would find this a serious disadvantage, given that mesmers main “weapon” is to create confusion by spawning copies of herself, that the other players cannot tell apart from the original.

He’s right. This star also bugs through solid objects, from what I heard.

Yes, the star is sometimes visible even through keep walls. Until there’s a way to switch it off, there’s no way i’ll complete maps on the mesmer.

They have said it was a bug and is meant to be on the clones too but no fix yet.

They have acknowledged it is a bug and intend to fix it the only unfortunate thing about it is that it is either:

a. difficult to fix and therefor hasn’t been addressed yet.
b. it is of too limited of an impact so therefor they are addressing other issues.

Main reason why I purposely set aside a vista to stop from getting map completion. While it’s not a significant, it’s still a disadvantage.

Well – clones do not get stacks from sigills or boons …. there’s many ways to see the real mesmer in the middle of his or her clones – the star ist just the most obvious one.

Indeed. It’s really particularly obvious though, since you see the star without even targetting (as opposed to boons), and without even trying to see an off-hand. There’s an obvious shiny gold star among the crowd basically saying “SHOOT HERE”. Including behind a wall if the mesmer used his stealth to hide and reappear out of LOS.

That’s one of the reasons why my mesmer does not want to get those attractive hollow red triangles filled solid

I do use other people’s little stars to help hunt them down when they are behind terrain.

It seems to be an overall terrible handicap for any class that is involved in PvP… especially so for Mesmers due to the clone thing.

Yes it is true that there are many tells that the clones give off (not moving/dodging, slow attack speed, only one attack, no offhand weapon)… but just adding more just seems silly.

Might as well make the legendary torch and make it extra obvious who the real Mesmer is.
