Q:
2 basic mesmer questions
1) yes. decoy will null revealed condi. it’s great have fun with it
2) the way i understand how guard staff symbol work is that it uses a pulse mechanic to apply swiftness. if that mechanic was to be applied to curtain i would imagine that someone with warden traited would have some projectiles reflected and some not when using curtain.
Decoy: You’re asking the wrong people I’m afraid. I can tell you that it does have a different mechanic in some ways, but I can’t tell you if that’s intended. Only the devs can answer that question.
Temporal curtain: Also asking the wrong people unfortunately. We’ve been begging the devs to fix that skill for over a year now, but no luck.
Decoy is a clone generator and therefore a defensive mechanism, that will keep one version of you (clone) around.

So I think it works as intended, as it is a stun breaker too. Otherwise, it would weaken the clone aspect of the mesmer class even more.

Decoy has a different icon than other Stealth, so i think we can safely assume it is intended to work differently.

Applies a distinct Decoy effect that is different from normal stealth. As such, it can be used while revealed and can be active at the same time as regular stealth, but will not stack in duration. Attacking while under the effects of Decoy will still result in being Revealed.

i wont repeat others but i can add,
1. yes its supposed to be like that, i cant find the posts but its already been mentioned that this is intended due to rendering the clone production useless if you are “revealed”
2. if youre using a zerk build give travellers runes a try, if a defensive one then try runes of speed, theyre both very expensive but they are extremely useful and provide stats that arent useless, cough centaur cough.

2) is the focus 4 curtain move going to be viable in terms of actually giving you more speed boon duration? the way it is now (i know i sound repetitive), you aren’t able to gain more speed boon duration if you already have the speed boon on you. other skills, such as shouts, warhorn skills, and the guardians staff symbol will still give you more speed boon duration even if you already had the boon. why can’t the mesmer’s curtain be fixed so that it works like the guardian’s staff symbol, where it will just keep replenishing the boon to the specific duration shown on the tooltip even if you’re standing in it. if the curtain worked like this, you could run through the threshold as many times as the curtain was up and youd still just have the boon replenished to whatever the duration the tooltip said.
i only ask the second question because i feel like mesmers aren’t as effective as they can be in roaming zergs where everybody is giving allies speed buffs. when a mesmer puts a curtain down in front of a speed buffed zerg, people dont even bother to run into it because they know it wont give them more speed boon duration if they’re already buffed, and continue to keep a lookout for the next guardian to put their staff symbol down.
The speed boost is mostly to help stragglers catch up to the more effective speed boosts before they go away. I need to check, but I think curtain veil also overrides a certain speed boost, so you don’t receive the more effective one. I notice a few times where I’m not running the same speed as the zerg, if I’m dropping veil.
If you’re struggling keeping up in the zerg as a mesmer, a way around is to have blink in your utility skills. At least you can jump up and cover the distance you lagged behind.
Although we really need a decent speed boost……
Also note, since decoy applies the “Decoy” boon instead of stealth, it will not stack with stealth and I believe time that you have stealth and decoy at once will be wasted. Also note that if you overlap stealth and decoy sometimes you will appear to be visible despite still having decoy on, this is purely visual and you are still invisible to enemies.
