I’m sure we have all seen the debate about the torment that will be added on scepter AA. I don’t want another thread about people discussing if the change is op or decent, but instead, for people to post what they wanted to be done about scepter instead. Im sure the thread has been started earlier but I have couldn’t find it so im starting a new one. Hopefully if they do end up nerfing it before its released they will replace it with a better design instead of scraping the idea.

Personally I want a faster auto attack (animation and velocity). After that, I think a better idea would be to add weakness for a few seconds on the first 2 AAs. on the third one the blast should apply torment and summon a clone, but the clone would attack with weakness instead of torment. This still gives us some decent condi dmg and makes our clones slightly useful.

Please tell me your idea!

The problem with the scepter aa is that it is not a condi weapon right now. I’d say just shift the 1st attack torment to the 2nd one too. So clones won’t stack torment, but it stays a condi weapon. Or maybe just remove the first aa condi damage and give us confusion on the 3rd one.

Personally, one of my biggest problems with the scepter is that the auto-attack generates clones and those clones do nothing except tickle and and wait to die. We already have so many other and far more effective ways of making clones that the scepter is easily regarded as the red-headed stepchild of our kitten nal. Not to mention, the 3 illusion limit can cause the AA clone to overwrite a phantasm. For me, this is so much of a problem that I constantly shy away from the scepter.

On the other hand, giving the scepter torment gives me a reason to use it. It’s still a rare condition so I don’t have to worry as much about competing with other condition users. It also stacks and does consistent damage, something that’s rare for mesmers. If that gets replaced with weakness, vulnerability or some random list of short-lived conditions that I can’t control, I’m just going to stuff the scepter in my bag again and focus on other weapons.

Actually … to say that torment on clone aa is too hard is kinda stupid. I mean it’s 2 sec. That’s nothing. What does the staff clone do? And it bounces …

They could have just made the scepter more akin to Elementalist’s water attunement scepter attack and made it a single sweep that sends multiple shots out at once, and remove the clone generation on it.

See. Was that hard? More viability for power AND/or condition viability through clone bleeds.

(Plus we love the sound of the impact that the ether bold projectile makes, that in quick succession, ooh!)
