I didn’t know if I read this correctly, as I only browsed the linked forum post briefly. But from what I understand, developers are planning on adding a new condition to the game…eventually. Like I said, I may have misunderstood. But even if they are planning on releasing a new condition, it will be “down the road,” which could mean a year or more for all we know. If they are adding a new condition, however, I definitely think Mesmers should have access to it. Could the condition nerf foreshadow having the ability to utilize better (and by better I mean more consistent) condition damage in the future? Thoughts? Comments? Illusionary cupcakes?

I think they said necros are getting it when they are in shadow form because they already have a slot open.

as for op
yes mesmers should definitely get it,a Dark based DoT?
would be perfect,given the fact Mesmers are the only class unable to have a reliable access to condition damage

thoughts being that it should be quite easy to access as a mesmer because of the poor condition damage they have already
in pve they have very very poor and unreliable condition damage unless sitting there and auto attacking with 3 GS clones in staff and over 70% crit chance
even then it’s poor unless all GS clones are critting….
most you can do there is like 15-18 stacks of bleeding,and that’s single target (especially with GS clones not getting this new “beam” update hitting targets in between)

the only problem with having this condition being the “easily accessible” one for mesmers,is,well,let’s look at things for a second

every slot 5 skill has a very large cooldown,it may become a very powerful condition that’s very scarce,such as Fear

unless they change Life Transfer over to skill 5 and make this new one on 4
but having a rapid-fire-button-masher condition on button 5?
besides something such as Churning Earth
seems…odd

comments (more like suggestions)
is i think it should be an easily accessible condition to mesmers to up their condition pressure,rather than ALWAYS being based around Power to make phantasms do anything at all

Honestly, confusion should’ve been THE Mesmer condition. I had a huge ? on top of my head when Engineers could put 10+ stacks faster and with more efficiency, on top of being able to put pretty much every other condition available as well. Now the nerf in damage makes it incredibly hard for condition Mesmers to compete with condition Engineers, as well as compete against power builds of other professions.

They will ultimately have to balance this by giving us more conditions (which would basically make us more like Engineers) or giving us the new condition (which makes Necromancers AND Mesmers less unique). They could make condition duration boosts and Illusionary Elasticity apply to clones, but I’m sure people will QQ it to death like confusion. But ultimately they will have to do something to make our condition builds competitive again.

I don’t understand this. Plenty of things apply in sPvP that don’t apply in WvW; the crit damage cap, the lack of consumables, etc. Why single out confusion?

Because Confusion punished bad players… And they whined the most.

erm sry but wvw and spvp are very very different from eachother:

I don’t think in spvp u face a zerg of 20 at the same time. a lot of people run solo and small groups face small groups…

yes, there are 16vs 16, but if the groups are unbalance, they get rebalanced

wvw has siege like ballistas

food is allowed in wvw

big zergs have big heals and cleansing and in a big zerg u most like get a rez

a shatterer is not as efective in wvw due to numbers

clones get killed very quickly with siege and due to big zergs

having a focus on u is important as u have to run long distances

skill<numbers in wvw,nobody cares if u 1v1 that super thief the zerg will simply overrrun u

a lot of times there is 10 vs 30 fights

as u see now there are differences. almost every class has a spvp build but would never use it in wvw as it is not viable vs zergs.

i understand that from a spvp expert player this changes seems no problem, but look at it this way, u have played spvp most likely as much as we have wvw.we know every function and build that works in wvw. a lot of classes go respec before the have 1v1 duel on wvw at the duel places. there i would swap to my spvp build, but every class has a specific wvw build because we spec into things that support large groups and face even lager groups. u can be great in spvp but getting destroyed in wvw with the same build.

yep to get back on the subject, i would love to see a new condition for the mesmer that could work with glam skills,but we will see what anet is going to do for mesmer so we can spec into condition dmg again
