Is anyone else kind of disappointed in phantasms? I feel like my Mesmer is most uncreative or arrogant illusionist in existence. Clones should obviously look like you but there is no reason why a phantasm should as they aren’t there to confuse who the real Mesmer is. They could be anything! They could be used to terrify and unsettle. They could be completely unnatural wtfkery. Unfortunately they are mostly just a see-through pink version of you doing a modified version of another classes attack. I suspect this us for cost but still, missed opportunities.

Clones do look like you, phantasm ob dont because yhet all do something special. how do you expect a phanta duelist to shoot while wielding a scepter or sword? the reason they are pink is so YOU dont get confused with yourself. to enemies they look just like u. and the class is only “creative” if you make it creative

Eh, the OP was on about why Phantasms look so much like us. Our Phantasmal Swordsman could be a giant floaty sword, our Berserker could be a fire-breathing Shatterer-clone. They’re Phantasms.

Let me tell you … I’d be willing to offer up my firstborn Mesmer for insane Phantasm imagery that shocks and astounds the enemy. Hell, if ANet can make holographic
dragon wings (multiple types, mind you!), then they should let their artists and Mes-coders go buck-freaking-wild with how Phants look.

Yea I’d be completely ok with new terrifying phantasm skins. The attached image makes me think of kabuki masks and samurai and conjured pink dragons. Those would be neat for phantasms, but alas…we can’t have things that remind us of Cantha.

How about kitten mursaat-ish phantasms would be nice =)
(so their models would be ingame and could be used as enemies, too ^^)

I’d go for the idea, but I’m betting on something like a Ritualist being a future profession (if ever). There are already a lot of parallels between Ritualist and GW2 Mesmer, I think they will have to leave something to set them apart.
