About mantra's chant (minor bug maybe?)
As far as I know, the change was made when the casting time for mantras was shortened. I feel that sound bites are the least of concerns as I still find mantras too clunky for use and Anet keeps ignoring any and every idea to change them.

I felt the same the first time I used them; now I can’t go back from them anymore.

Hardly. I’ve tried it and found it quite useless most of the time. And those two Lockdown Mesmers I’ve actually encountered in PvP (or anywhere, for that matter; never saw one in WvW and obviously even less in PvE xD) so far, seemed to mainly look good because their Thief buddy has beaten the sh.. out of me while I couldn’t do much for a couple of seconds. Meaning they didn’t actually interrupt many skills or so, but mainly kept me dazed/stunned long enough to be stabbed to death.
Maybe it’s different for the really skilled Lockdown Mesmers out there, though. But I’ve yet to actually see one. (I do think some of you guys made videos, though… but how many are you again? 3? 4? Out of thousands of Mesmers…)
I just wanted to know if it was something on my end.

This tramslates to “I’m useless with MoD/Rupt/Lockdown therefor it is bad”. See the problem?

Nope, you’re definitely right. You only hear the dialogue sometimes. Can’t quite figure out whether there’s a pattern to it (out of combat? first time on a map?).

You might want to read the rest of my post too.
Edit: Now that I think of it, there was one more lockdown Mesmer I’ve encountered once, and he completely obliterated me… but that was mainly because of the conditions I got due to the trait in Chaos haha. But ya. If that Mantra was THAT great and overpowered (Chuck Norris AND Mr. T), I think there would hardly be any Mesmer who wouldn’t take it. Instead, only very very few do, and even less do actually use it in a way that makes them really dangerous on their own.

MoD isn’t an overpowered skill. It’s just simple AoE daze, very straightforward. What you actually do with that daze it what makes it potentially strong.

Exactly.
It takes actual skill. Acquiring those skills takes time and effort. The peak of which is steep and hidden high above some distant cloud.
