I’m curious if any of that technology will apply to our Illusions, though…

Like being able to change between targets during a channeled ability. If I summon a duelist on a target that dies before the duelist is done channeling its unload… will it shift its attack to another target?

Or, are there any plans to maybe make Illusions change targets if you’re still in combat?

I highly doubt it would apply to phantasms but maybe?

Really looking forward to waving my confusing images beam across targets if I’m fast enough (things like that seem potentially OP honestly). For things like rapid fire, yeah. Really cool change there.

I doubt it.

But this Action Camera is a welcome addition – I’ve been using a modified autohotkey script of the original combat mod for years, allowing me to use left click for auto attack and right click for skill #2, and mouse scroll to change weapons (shift scroll zooms camera if the crosshair is toggled on, and normal scroll zooms if the crosshair is toggled off), as well as crosshair which I toggle off to blink or use other ground targeted abilities and then toggle back on again.

In addition I can hold either left shift or alt and rotate the camera while maintaining the crosshair and direction of travel to look around/behind – releasing those buttons snaps me to face/run in the new direction. It works pretty nicely, no finger strain for camera movement, allows for fluid easy movement like in a tps/fps.

Oh and I use tab targeting with closest/next/previous/lock/detarget anyway – the crosshair is more for ease of character movement. I’m very used to toggling off/on to release and move the cursor for ground targeting or selecting targets.

I’ll see if this action mode can sufficiently replace/replicate all of that., although I’m expecting there to be too many limitations currently. It needs to be very specific for me in order to work in pvp.

I think you may be understanding it wrong. I didn’t watch the stream though, so feel free to correct me.

The example uses retargeting ranger’s barrage. Barrage is a ground target aoe, and obviously won’t be moved once dropped. This statement, however, was made in the context of the action camera mode, which allows you to lock on to a target from both view and keybind. The changing targets in the middle of a channeled skill most likely would allow you to either move your camera or just swap targets while using a skill in combat mode without breaking the channel.

For channeled abilities like Ranger LB #2 (which they used in the stream) and confusing images, we’ll be able to shift between targets DURING a channel refocusing its fire to multiple targets if we want. So now if you go to unload a scepter 3 on a target that dies before your channel ends, you can just shift between different targets and not waste the channel. I’m just hoping someone at anet considers implementing elements of these improvements to our Phantasm AI. I’m not overly optimistic, but figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask.

I think it’s going to be less useful for ‘’target-lock’’ intensive professions such as mesmer. It’s going go work well with classes that fart AoE there and there or melee oriented combat.

As for Confusing Image, now that it’s so fast, I don’t think the target swap is going to be successful as Rapid Fire, which has more projectiles (6 vs 10) and channeling (1/2 more lol).
