I’d say Mainhand Pistol but if new weapons get added then all classes will get one and Mesmer should have had Mainhand pistol from the start.

So give us Pistol and then Shield just because I like the legendary skin.

Arenanet should bring back fighting staves. It’s the most tradition weapon in martial arts and I never understood why it was suddenly just a useless gigantic magic stick.

I’d be happy with another melee range main hand alternative like dagger. Or heck just to mess with the current state of things allow Mesmer to have torch as a mainhand and make it a condition based 1 hand weapon.

If they add any weapon I would want another underwater weapon first though, because right now there is no choice in that arena, you have two and you can use two. With a third everyone could drop the one they dont like at all (spear in my case). For caster types they could just make underwater versions of things like scepter/orb/wand, for more physical professions believable underwater weapons are more limited though.

And I am actually against main hand pistol because then you could dual wield them. One pistol is fine but for some reason dual pistols doesnt seem “mesmerish” at all to me.

Shield would be intersting for mesmer, although they need to add some stylish skins then! And I would like a very “against type” weapon like a mace or hammer.

Since the OH pistol already has the principle of a bouncing bullet, I don’t see why the MH couldn’t have a similar principle. It’s a mage, so physics are less important for the pistols than with a thief.

I think mainhand torch would be an interesting addition.

Just imagine, an auto-attach with a Blast Finisher at the end, a cone of PINK flames that blinds foes and creates a clone (that has a BLAST FINISHER) and a Staff-esque defensive/offensive FIRE field that steals boons from foes and grants them to allies while applying burning and a chance to blind as well as retaliation to allies.

If anything, I think it’d could be the flashiest weapon besides staff that a mesmer would have.

For some reason, a mainhand dagger doesn’t make sense to me. Dual dagger I guess, and if you had a choice to main a dagger with something else that’s you…but mainhand-only dagger + sword is rather backwards. People tend to wield their shorter weapon in their off hand, not the other way around.

A hammer that can drop hammers at 1200 range.

Or how about a rifle that shoots butterflies? We could have them rain from the sky in our own version of Barrage and the butterfly auto attack could fly around to different targets butterflying them.

I want a two-hand katana with the Iaijutsu style. Skill 3 HAS to be the circular dashing slash that Sengoku Basara 3’s Mitsuhide did. I also like the idea of a main hand fan or two-hand whip. When I played Phantasy Star Universe and had a whip, I recall my toon even swinging her hips while attacking! It was so awesome!

Oh, and I too want a main-hand gun. Make it happen.

Torch is actually pretty good when you get used to it. Maybe not top-notch like some other off-hands, but still has a good place.

Scepter 2 and 3 are rally good too, it’s just that 1 needs a wee bit of help. It’s great for a Mantra build though, since you don’t have to mind interrupting your auto-attack to recast your Mantras.

There’s data in the game for polearms, and I’d love to see those get fully implemented.

If I could create a weapon for Mesmer though, it’d have to be a Tome. Like a huge, thick, dramatically oversized kind of book that would serve as a focus for AoE skills.

As far as what’s in the game, I think MH/OH daggers would be the most fitting though. Some people have been saying throwing daggers, and that’d be great for a 900-range AoE set. Though I think I’d prefer more of a focus style of casting.

1: Ethereal Shard – Ricochets off multiple targets, bleeding foes. (Base damage of Engineer Pistol 1, 3 second bleed, 3 targets. 20% Chance of Projectile Finisher. Casting speed of Thief Shortbow 1.)

2: Impeccable Reflection – Channel a wave of ethereal bolts that pierce enemies, while at the same time reflecting ranged attacks. (Medium base damage, 10 attacks, 20% chance of Projectile Finisher, 60 degree cone. 2 seconds worth of channel and reflection. Recharge 12 seconds.)

3: Misdirection – Clone. Summon a clone that appears in a cloud of smoke, blinding nearby foes. (Low base damage, 3 second Blind, 180 radius, very quick cast time. Blast Finisher. Recharge 15 seconds.)

4: Phantasmal Harrier – Phantasm. Summon an illusion that attacks with a fan of knives, crippling enemies. (Medium damage, 60 degree cone, 5 attacks at once, 5 seconds between attacks. Each hit causes 3 seconds of cripple. Like Ranger Splitblade, but with cripple. Recharge 20 seconds.)

5: Blinding Singularity – Create a spacial distortion that draws enemies toward a single point before exploding, blinding enemies caught within. (Low damage 480 radius initial pull, followed by Medium Damage 240 radius Blast Finisher that blinds for 3 seconds. Recharge 25 seconds.) I imagine this as throwing a dagger into the center point, drawing in enemies and mesmer-y colored orbs of light before detonating in a flurry of mesmer butterflies.

If they give the mesmer a mainhand pistol then they should make it a melee weapon like in equilibrium ( which would look pretty kitten too) because just shooting more bullets doesn’t sound that exciting with all the ranged options we already got… unless the skills have some really cool mechanics to them.

Personally a rework on the scepter would be most welcome aswell … the weapon is incredibly sluggish overall … the 3 skills take way too much time to execute making it rather unexciting to use.
Atleast speed the auto-attack up and the counter on skill 2 and spaking of the counter … that one really needs a completely new animation … it just looks silly as it is now… not like a counter … have the mesmer and it’s clone perform a cool looking counter on the target as soon as it triggers.( same goes for offhand sword skill 4)

A weapon with combat skills that have more movement would be nice too and one with more control be it on the enemy, area or both.
Maybe they can introduce entirely new mechanics progressively.

Personally I still like the idea of using daggers if it has atleast the more speedy feel like on other classes.
