After you use Blink...

Happens sometimes, not new. You mean your character stop moving and just slide right?

Well, specifically …
I’m running towards something —> Blink towards it —> Sliiiiiiiide instead of run. lol
Northern Shiverpeaks
I wonder if you could walk backwards, blink and then moonwalk!
This happens to me when I’m running with my weapon sheathed. Doing a weapon swap resumes the running animation.
Alternatively, draw your weapon before you blink and you won’t experience the slide (at least that’s always worked for me).

Happens every now and then, stops if I take a quick hop or stop moving. I figure it’s a minor bug.
Happens to me all the time. The real question is, do other people see you sliding or do they see your legs moving normally?

They see you running normally. I asked my guildies when I first saw this glitch. To fix it you simply jump and then it resumes normal animation.
Happens almsot every time I blink. -__-
I call it the surf.
Now while surfing, throw your greatsword with 2 and now you’re skiing!
I wish they would just make blink teleport you a fixed distance in whatever direction you want to travel (mouse, dpad, or arrow depressed).
Requiring it be targeted adds two encumbrances which make it difficult to use when its most needed.
1 – the time taken to move the mouse to where you want to go when it’s supposed to be an “oh **** that warrior’s unleashing 100 blades!” button.
2 – the distinct possibility you will target an area with your cursor OUT OF RANGE and therefore nothing will happen, again leaving you eating another precious few seconds in a hundred blades.

I’m sorry but that is a HORRIBLE idea. How about situations where you are trying to blink somewhere specific and now you would be thrown somewhere too far or somewhere where you don’t want to go. While in pvp when my friend goes down I go into stealth and blink to him to rez, now if I had no control I would stealth and blink into a mob of enemies and un-stealth into death. Not only this but while in pvp I use a sword/pistol combo and I use my illusionary leap and immobilize them and use skill #2 to do damage, since I used my leap I then use decoy, and blink directly next to them to get a few more hits. Having no control over where you blink would be a major problem, you might just need more practice using the mouse and keyboard at the same time.
PS Hundred blades is a stand-still skill so a simple roll will solve your issues, no need to use a utility.
Also if you go into options you can enable easy target or something, where when you use the skill it will go to where your mouse is looking at. So if you skill it properly that would eliminate your problems.

That’s about 1/2 of the mesmer ground target skills (mind stab, null field, time warp, and blink) Don’t forget: Veil, Focus 4/Into The Void (name eluding), Chaos Storm, and some racial abilities. I do agree though that Blink is perfect as is regarding it’s range/movement to ground target setup.
The Blink/surf bug is a minor issue and no where near a high priority considering all the other “issues” the Mesmer has.

What would be better for Blink is to keep it targeted, but if you click outside the target range, in the “red” zone, it blinks you to the maximum distance instead of denying you the use of the skill.
THEN Blink would be perfect.

What Ross said. Blink would be perfect.

They see slide. Mass Mesmer slid XD
Also what Ross said.
Interesting fact—Blink does not move you across any sort of gaps that requires jumping. I’m assuming it simply “really speeds you up”, so any latency would cause that effect.
FYI, my characters do that even without using skills T-T and on regular basis too.

I am sorry to bring “that other game” into discussion, but after 5 years playing a mage i beg to differ.
It is not a horrible idea, it’s just different from something you want. Having blink work without ground targetting with predictable range and direction is also good – in some situations it can be a lifesaver.
I personally can’t choose between the two ways of implementing blink – both are good and bad.

It’s more subtle. Some times you can cross gap. For example, in Lion’s Arch, you can cross the sewer drain near the bank by blinking instead of taking the small bridge. Same in Rata Sum, in the lower levels there are gap you can cross.
On the other hand, some places directly accessible by running can’t be blinked to, like the small climb just before the vista of the ogre kraal in the Field of ruin. Really weird.
does it for me, i like it as well. love to see asura doin the dougie
