All phantasms now utterly broken.
Please just remove phantasms, give us a skill instead. Keep the clones for shatter mecanic.
More simple.
^they can remove all phantasms but make iZerker it was before… this is my fav mesmer skill for wvw/pve and now its broken x2. not only there’s a delay but iZerker misses the majority of its attacks as well.
They just can make ‘’graphic animation’’ like a spell for phantasms instead of a clone doing damage. A one time use spell.

Just wait until an NPC one-shots the iBerserker as it sits there right after you spawn it! Comical…
If this is intended… wtf.
Let’s make it so ALL classes’ skills do nothing for two seconds then.
They should rework Phantasms to switch skills with basic attack, the attack they normally have, and the ability to dodge roll (like how you see bandits do). This “attack once, and stand and do nothing for 6+ seconds” is really dumb behaviour.

You mean, like GW1? :p

I sincerely hope this is a bug. All phantasms are just useless now.
Well…you can’t make a fighter without breaking some mesmers.
Has this issue been acknowledged yet?
All phantasms functioning now by initiating a 1-2 second delay is perhaps the most serious bug this class has ever faced.
I just went through Arah, and the results with my iZerk looked like this:
25% of the time it would summon, and die before the 1-2 “delay” period ended. Never getting a chance to attack.
25% of the time it would summon, begin waiting the 1-2 “delay” period, meanwhile the target has moved away (chasing an ally, or myself, ect) and the iZerk initiates the attack OUT OF RANGE..and hits thin air.
Has this issue been acknowledged yet?
No, for whatever frustrating reason, it has not been.
Have not heard ONE word from Anet about this..
How they are not hearing all of the issues, is beyond me.
I think they hear it, the question should be: Why are they not communicating with us?
lol, way to break the mesmer anet and not respond about it. Izerker still sometimes misses on targets/hits only once, so nothing was really fixed. Awesome.
I’m surprised you’re expecting a response. In 4 months I’ve seen 1 reply on a mesmer issue from anet.

Guess this is a problem for all the glass builds out their,,,however for me who dont use them to attack with.
Dont effect me at all, well sorry about you all having your builds hurt.
How much more are they going to do to what once was a FUN class!
Listening to Prince.
IOJ>KAIN>FA….few stops in between and after.
I think they hear it, the question should be: Why are they not communicating with us?
They never will. Us mere customers just can’t comprehend the changes. THEY do, WE don’t. ANet is turning into a religion, can’t you see it?
But seriously, they just don’t seem to learn. They kittened up the Lost Shores event big time, and for 99% the kittenup consisted of failing to communicate with their customers. It’ll be the same this time. And it’ll be the same for Winter’s Day.
I’m going to pull a Nostradamus here and say: Winter’s Day will be bugged as hell, the Winter’s Day update will contain further “fixes” (a.k.a. bugs) for every class except Warrior and Thief, and some Winter’s Day events will be blocked due to bugs. Plus: they will never apologize nor admit failure. Instead they will proclaim Winter’s Day a huge success and happily continue producing “new content” instead of fixing the kitten game.

I checked the other forums for each profession. No one else feels they got hit like we did. Rangers were disappointed that they got an insubstantial nerf for trap exploits and not a much needed buff, but no one nearly got hit like we did.

I don’t know what everyone else’s rotation is but I use mirror blade then the iZerker so this change didn’t make a noticeable difference.

that makes no sense at all. regardless of the order you use skills, it means you have to wait 2 seconds before you can shatter, or you get no benefit out of using a cooldown.
Has anyone tried if Phantasmal Haste maybe improves on this problem we have now?

It makes perfect sense. It’s the only way to get the delayed damage from iZerker. I tend to do iZerker before Mirror Blade, but the GOOD rotation is Mirror Blade then iZerker, because you want Vulnerability on the monster then iZerker damage.
i think this was a bug related to a trait that made phantasms attack immediately, which was one of the phantasm boon traits.
with this new change, i think phantasm creation should once again ignore line of sight. being attacked from behind a wall by berserkers and such won’t be a problem because they will be easily killed before given a chance to attack

yeah i get that, but this whole thread is about the delay before attacking, and how buggy the actual attack is following. regardless of the order, you still have to wait for the phantasm to attack before shattering it. this leads to dramatically lower damage and response time to enemy attack.
The way Phantasms are behaving now is the way Phantasms behaved before the patch if you didn’t take any of the traits that applied boons to your Phantasms. Since many Mesmers took either Phantasmal Fury or Vengeful Images, there was not a lot of awareness of this issue. If you took either of those or both of those traits, your Phantasms would attack immediately upon summons. Without the traits, there would be a delay between summoning the Phantasm and the Phantasm attacking.
I assume that when they fixed all the boon giving traits to work they ended up removing the instant-attacking Phantasm behavior. Intentional or not, this is a bad change. Phantasms become far less reliable. This is a playability issue. If you cast a spell and the spell doesn’t “go off”, then the class you’re playing becomes far less reliable. People are noticing this change mostly with Zerker because the quick cripple is vital to the playstyle. Now that reliable cripple is no longer reliable and the playability of the class drops off.
Takes 2898349234 seconds for mine to attack now

I noticed this last night while I was doing fractals after the patch, I needed to do my daily and I noticed something odd with my phantasms and I was like meh I’m just tired. It’s funny how they always screw up the only class that made me start this game at all >_>
I read the interview about pay-as-you-go expansions and couldn’t stop laughing. Then got terrified as I realized it wasn’t a joke. =/

I’d probably complain, but I can’t even log-in to the game since the patch due to the log-in server constantly crapping out.

yeah i want a link too, i hope your just getting confused with how they called the old guild wars 1 expansions pay as you go, not pay monthly, if they start a monthly fee i’ll quit and never recommend the game to anyone, the biggest selling point was having no monthly fee…
factions, nightfall and eye of the north were what they called “pay as you go” back then.
start leveling other classes looks like this one is untouchable for a while.

People need to take a deep breath sometimes and rotate their braincells. Why is it that you are so eager to find something, you can hate on.
1) There will be “free” monthly content updates
2) There will be expansions that you pay for, but at a slower rate than gw1 (in gw1 almost every half year).
Of cause you pay for big expansion packs with new maps, stories, races, skills, events and so on!

Or take a break from the game. I leveled a ranger to 80, then decided they got the short end of the stick on PvE and PvP. I really enjoyed mesmer so I’m working on 80, they’ve decided that the class I didn’t think they could nerf needs to be toned down so the noobs and baddies can compete and understand without qqing all day.
Sadly each and every change to mesmer has really hurt the class and there has been no compensation BECAUSE the dev’s think mesmer is an issue too. I mean really what other explanation is there for the constant nerfs on mesmer if they don’t believe mesmer is a problem?
Man My iZerker nearly never gets an attack in now…

My iWarden still attacks immediately, so this topic statement is not true.
yea iBerserker is so unreliable now. I rarely see it hit more than 1-2 times, assuming it actually does hit which is fairly common now. In WvW, it seems like it never hits… unless im using it on a gate or something that doesn’t move lol.
Wouldn’t it be fun if we made every skill have a 1-2 sec pause before doing anything? I think so.
Goodbye, mesmer, goodbye. You were fun while you lasted.
iRouge (downstate skill) takes a year to attack aswell.
Tbh it is actually bullkitten. iZerk is majority of my damage and now it just stands there forever and by the time it finally moves, the enemy has moved and iZerk does its swinging motion either missing (most of the time) or getting a mere 600 damage done from the end of its action.
Yes I’m mad.

Hi everyone,
Dropping by to let you know that this issue has been forwarded to the team. As soon as we have more info we will provide it to you.
Thanks for your understanding
Thanks for the heads up. Those constant stealth nerfs, wheter intentional or not, are really disappointing, but lack of response is even worse.
Mesmer doomsday.
I did not want to touch it, very sad..
Evidently this new problem is ‘working as intended’, per Game Designer JonPeters.
Please tell me this is a joke.
It has always had a delay, I am investigating if the delay somehow got changed. If someone has good raw data on the old damage of berserker vs the new damage that will also help me track down where that change came from and fix it.
Thanks,
Jon

There has always been a delay, but that delay was no where near what it is now.
The current delay is game breaking. I’ve literally had monsters run towards me while my iZerk stands there upon it’s first summon, and when the initiating attack delay runs out, it then attacks into thin air and hits nothing (because the delay was long enough for the monster to simply move out of range).
This long delay has been applied to the other land-based phantasms i’ve tested, the underwater phantasms are not effected by it.
As for the old damage of berserker vs new damage..it’s difficult to say. The bug with iZerk (that came on Nov 14th) appears to have come from the phantasm missing several hits during its first whirling attack. All other subsequent attacks had regular damage, but the first attack upon it’s summon easily did 1/3rd the damage it normally does. From my observation iZerk was missing attacks during it’s first flurry of hits, I’m not sure how many it does in that first whirling attack..something like 3-5? It routinely was hitting for only 1-2 after the Nov 14th patch. It’s damage now appears to be around what it used to be, but I can’t say for sure.
The delay is still a problem
Also, thank you for responding.

No data I’m afraid, but the effect is likely tied to the change in blade trail and similar abilities. Apparently they were causing more damage the more targets struck.
iZerker probably isn’t doing “less damage” persay, but rather it’s missing most of it’s swings when it attacks

I don’t have any data either, unfortunately, I don’t usually record my attack damages on the offchance they might end up bugged and the Devs need my help :P
And I don’t think the Delay on attack has been changed,
It feels exactly the same length it felt back when I was in early levels and had no traits to mitigate it.
I think people just became so accustomed to being able to use Phantasmal Fury to eliminate the delay that it became the norm for the class. I have met very, very few Mesmers (I can think of none) that didn’t use Phantasmal Fury for the delay decrease.
A pity, I don’t have any data. All I can say is that I’m absolutely sure the iZerker damage is roughly half (if not less) what it was before the dreaded november 15th patch. And judging by the numbers that appear on the screen, the reduction of damage seems to be tied to attacks not hitting during the whirl.
