Another main hand weapon would be fun
I don’t feel mesmers need another MH weapon. It would all be solved if they’d improve both scepter and sword autoattack, and make Confusing Images with 2s cast time.
Scepter is a meh choice just because is the slowest weapon of all game for what you get, not because is not a weak weapon.

MH Pistol: fast and furious ranged weapon as a niche weapon we’re currently missing.
Mesmers could use another ranged MH weapon since our only option is scepter.

What I have really wanted for a very long time is for mesmers to be able to use the shortbow. With a blink and some mid range aoe.
I would love a shortbow too, or a rifle could be interesting

Main hand pistol. Ability 2 will be the duelist ability but instead of distorting you like blurred frenzy you could absorb projectiles or something since it will root you.
If it doesn’t root you … well it would be awesome just as a burst skill I guess.

I like the idea but it’s too similar to thiefs MH pistol skills. I would rather have more tricks on the skills which make it more unique. Maybe bouncing bullets, bullets that blasts on impact etc
of course it would be fun, how we didn’t get a single one in 1 year is a mystery tho

Not sure I agree. Fun, maybe. But it’s also fun to have balanced weapons which are actually all useful to an equal degree, and ideally useful without having to specifically trait for them.

There’re just so much builds one can have with so much weapon combos. Cranking the number of possible combos up and it will be much more interesting to face someone.
Like in GW1 where you didn’t know the enemies skills and had to learn by looking what they use.
Maybe not add weapons NOW but later down the line with new traits and new utilities to give more build variety which has always been my main con for GW2..I like the whole build wars thing.

Personally, I think Mesmers are built to be mid-range fighters who jump in and out of long/medium/short range. I think a 600 range weapon wouldn’t be that bad considering we have a Greatsword for long range.

We already have a good MH close range weapon, the sword. We have nothing for ranged MH, that’s why a pistol (and hopefully its not sucky like scepter) with 900 range would be better as the first added weapon, then they could expand with with a whip. Would also like to have a rifle, magic rifles would fit mesmers nicely me think

Aww no bullettime moves? Like, dodging in your moving direction while shooting (with sunglasses) and going pew pew? Or a barrage skill like the rangers, only with blurple bullet rain?
But seriously, don’t we all want new weapons? On every class? It’s just a matter of time. It even doesn’t have to be a MH pistol imo, any weapon will bring some new variety into the game.

What i would like to see. The offhand skills would remain unchanged as this would mean that it wouldnt change up X/Pistol combos
Auto Attack:
Chain 1: Fire Shot X damage plus Bleeding(2stacks, 1 second)
Chain 2: Fire Shot X damage Plus Bleeding(2stacks, 1 second)
Chain 3: Fire shot X damage Plus Confusion(1 stack, 2seconds) Plus Range Clone
Not quite sure what the 2nd skill could be though
The 3rd one could be different depending on the offhand used example:
Pistol/Pistol: Blistering Barrage – AoE attack, Fires both pistols for X number of seconds causes random conditions to those damaged
Pistol/Torch: Blinding Shot – Fire shot at target, Stealth for X number of seconds and then fire a shot that blinds target upon stealth exit

Right so because a Thief has #3 skills that change it means that no others can? I am sorry but i don’t agree with that, sure if the skills were exactly the same, same name, same effect and such then i could agree.
I wouldnt call them having 3# skills that change really something about them, surely Stealth, Steal and such are what makes Thieves not them having a skill that changes.

I’d agree with you, if it weren’t for the fact that they’re the only class with that cute little trick. And that’s the rub. Not to mention, we’re Mesmers … we’re indirect, mindkittening folk. We’d be the ones to blip to the side, leave a Clone, and then Confusion-shot a fool in the head. /shrug

In all seriousness a new MH weapon would have to meet the following two requirements.
1: be thematic with either the ‘dueling’ or ‘magic user’ concepts
2: be logically accessible to 2 other professions. I realize the rifle and mace break that rule but its a good guideline.
Given what evidence we have. I would say that if you truly want MH pistol, then what you must do is take every profession and find a current weapon outside of their current pool that is logical for them to use. That would be close to the model which has been presented before us.
I’d love to see mainhand focus with:
1. Ray in front or bouncing bold that hits 3 targets max and does damage + bleeding/cripple.
2. Aoe field with a 10 second cooldown, something similar to shatterstone of elementalist (#2 scepter water skill) with purple ice spikes instead of blue ice ones.
These spikes deal more damage based on how long you hold it up to 4 seconds. Maybe remove 1 boon on hit could also be nice or, when holding longer than 2 seconds it could apply a blast finisher.
3. A projectile that pierces and does 0.5/1 sec daze with a 900 or 1200 yards range. This projectile doesnt require target and so can be shot where the aim is set to. Cooldown of 20 seconds would be nice.
Now I would also love to see a remake on temporal curtain. As I’m in love with mesmer, I still don’t like the meta of it. I would love to see mesmer being more based on interrupts and so would love to see temporal curtain to do a 0.5 sec daze when moving through it. Maybe have the cooldown increased to 30.

We already have Staff, Scepter, and Greatsword for ranged. A MH pistol is a bad idea for this reason alone.
Axe or Mace are the least-usable MH weapons in the game, so probably one of those two.
as much as everyone wants another MH pistol, what we need is another melee weapon. Mace or Axe preferably, with more control, possibly a stun or an evade. Scepter needs some tweaking as well, but we def need another melee option
I’d rather have another melee/cleave option too. If greatsword is ranged on a mes, they could make long/shortbow a shotgun-type weapon on mesmers. Focus could fit too.
Every other class has a strong melee setup where they either don’t have to swap(because of strong autos) or can swap to another melee set. Mesmers have to swap often since the production of clones/phants is what gates our offense and defense, but when we swap out of MH sword (which isn’t even that good anymore) and want/have to stay in melee, such as in wvw pug groups, what other option is there? Staff is the next best option but I’d say it is optimally used midrange, good luck hitting anything with WoC when 2 opposing groups do a pass-through, and then its only aoe is on a ~30s cd.
This lack of a 2nd melee set IMO forces mesmers into the range/support role in gvgs and wvw in general.

I love the idea of a pistol obviously, however even without a pistol as a consideration there is definitely room for another weapon such as a bow or perhaps even another melee option.
I COULD see dagger as a possibility…I mean why not? Dagger doesn’t fit the duelist theme but it fits more then axe or mace and as mesmer are kind of sneaky themselves…well I would like the look of Incinerator =).
Maybe for ranged an entirely new weapon. Ever seen the game Kingdoms of Amalur? The chakrams from this game are just awesome and the only way I played the game(for everyone who has not seen them http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVOhs4uSy0A )…I mean why not? =)

Main hand focus! Us Mesmers are the kings of confusion. We’ll imagine how confused our enemy will be when we throw beer and harps at them!
Chakrams could fit Mesmers, Elementalists and potentially Rangers?
I would put them at 600 range for Mesmers, 1200 for Elementalists and 1000 for Rangers or something like that.

Warrior+Guardian+Ranger+Thief should get crossbow imho. Engineer would be happy to get ANY new weapon be it hammer or mace or anything like that…maybe a crossbow fits too..dunno but there are enough possibilities for future weapons.

I would love Shield and Mace combo for defense, it could be a real defensive option for boons, lower damage, a few stuns/knockbacks and such. I would love the Hammer as well as some of them have great skins
Further on the Main Hand Focus ideas, though unsure of strength as the only skill that does direct damage will be the Skill #1. Unsure of strength/overpowered-state of the ideas off the top of my head.
Skill #1 Overload (Auto-attack): You throw a clone of your Focus at your target, which explodes on contact (think Grenades). AoE medium damage of up to 5 targets with no tracking. Random condition between Torment x1, Confusion x1, and Weakness x1 (4s duration each). Projectile Combo: 20% chance. Range 1200. Cast Time: 3/4s.
Skill #2 Images of Remorse (Clone): Up to three targets in a selected targeted area gain Weakness for 5s, Torment x3 for 4s and have a Clone of you targeting them. Up to three allies in the area gain 5s of Regeneration. Cast time: 1/4s. CD: 13 seconds. Range: 1200
Skill #3 Web of Disruption: AoE zone that cripples targets for 2 seconds and applies a 1s effect/condition that interrupts the next skill used/being used (and removes itself once this occurs). Pulses both the Cripple and the Effect/Condition Interrupt every second for 2 seconds (initial, at 1 second, at 2 second for at most 3 “hits”). Allies in the zone gain 1s of Aegis per Pulse. 1/2s cast. 20 second CD. Ethereal Combo Field. (Note, creates a field that does work with the Warden’s Feedback trait for reflection).
Has something for the Condition Dmg side, with Torment and a bit of Confusion. Not to mention the conditions from the Chaotic Interruption trait.
Has something for the Power side, ranged AoE damage auto-attack, On-location Clone generation for Mind Wrack, and Interrupts (with the Halting Strike trait).
Has something for Boon-lovers, (Regeneration on Demand, Aegis for Allies, and Bountiful Interruption trait).
Has nothing for the Mobility lover, though.

Dagger actually could work, tbh. Although, I’d be more for that as an OH weapon. Think of it as the main-gauche to our rapier. There is still an argument for MH as well, when one considers weapons like the cinquedea or stiletto.

Would be awesome if Whip autos inflicted bleeding for 2sec and have 5% chance to immobilize target for 1sec. I also would like skill 2 or 3 (if the weapon is MH) to immobilize a target for long duration like 3sec (such as Pin Down) and set them on fire for 3sec
