Arcane Thievery blocked by Aegis??
Tarnished Coast
Well, not-damaging pulls (like Into the Void) are blocked too, so it seems Aegis block hostile interactions, not just attacks. That being said, I don’t know if it is intended.
Since it has been this way this beta, I would like to say “intended”, but then I look at all the mesmer bugs, here since the age of (GW2) times…
Afair ANet once patched this saying “AThievery now steals Aegis instead of being blocked by it”. I wonder if some old code sneaked back in.
Wiki also says it’s flagged “Unblockable”.
Since I’m a PvE meser, I barely use the skill. Maybe someone else can confirm the issue.
I use Arcane Thievery a lot in WvW. Aegis blocking it used to be a much larger issue. Since the bug fix mentioned by Nretep, I’ve noticed that it usually steals Aegis, but every once and a while it will get blocked. However, this happens very, very rarely. I think the bigger issue is that it’s description says it will remove conditions, but it will always fail if you’re blinded (not that this is a bad thing… it is just very counter-intuitive).

Arcane thievery doesn’t remove conditions, it transfers them. With that being said, yeah it doesn’t make sense that blind would stop arcane thievery when it is suppose to cause the next attack to fail.

Well, since this was WvW and it was a bit hectic, I can’t be entirely sure, but I was thinking that the other player may have been actively blocking (like our scepter #2 or sword #4), and just happened to have Aegis up on the boon bar.
Has anyone tested actively blocking Arcane Thievery? I see that Nretep mentioned the GW2 Wiki and unblockable, but I’m always a bit leery of trusting any info that comes from any Wiki site. LOL

Transferring them REMOVES them from yourself and applies them to your target, so I’m not really seeing your point here other than making a semantic argument.

The end result as far as it goes to your own character is the same, but doesn’t make the terms equivalent. It is more than a ‘semantic argument’. The terms are clearly not the same, their effects are not entirely the same (only the part on your character), and the skills description clearly states transfer and not remove. I made the minor correction to clarify for others and then added my opinion that sounds very much in line with yours. I’m not exactly seeing the problem here.

Meaning, transfering has different requirements than just removing.
Transfering requires:
- A target
- A vulnerable (not invulnerable, blocking or evading) target
- A living target (environmental targets are condition immune)
In my experience one of the requirements for Arcane to not bug out is for you to actually be physically facing your target. It’s kind of like Magic Bullet or Confusing Images.
