You got to love people who whine about other classes in mmo’s. My guardian is literally face roll easy to play. My thief with sword/dagger (Jumper) spec is super easy to play.

It’s the player not the class.

I could say that about every class, apart from engineer which I think in general it takes far more skill to play one than to beat one.

Blurred frenzy damage is moderate in any build with passive defence – I do not understand the complaints about this skill.

Its not the damage people complain about. Its the fact that with this one skill alone, you have invulnerability 20% (25% when traited) of the time in any fight.

Stuff goes here.

I am more than happy if they replace it with warriors whirling attack.

With my p/d thief from Time to Time i run into opponents that seem to be alot more challenging then the usual foes. 2 out of 3 are mesmers wielding a 1hs/? . They seem to do good dmg and are indeed very confusing. Of the Mesmer know how to move and act clonelike you loose important seconds to find him no matter how much you fokus on doing so. A thief uses this way of confusing his enemys too by cloaking and repositioning.

Clones however dont need to orientate and Instanty fire their pistol attacks the moment the target visible again.

I wouldnt call the Mesmer OP but hes is for sure a real monster that starts every fight with his guns well loaded.

Outplaying … A Word that got mentioned here a few times implements a in general higher skilllvl for Mesmerplayers, i disagree. Lets face it Mesmers are a strong class.

I will say this about Mesmers. They are not “OP”, but they are the most obnoxious and annoying class in the game. Handsdown. Killing them is nightmarish and frustrating if they are good, and, they remind me too much of Phantom Lancer from Dota 2 for me to EVER like one. Something about having multiple copies of yourself doing damage while you kite is just an annoying class mechanic, not to mention how buggy the clones can get. I’ve popped stealth and run off, and the clones will just follow me in melee range half the time, even if they can’t see me. My stealth fades? Instantly, no matter where they are, are back on top of you. Forget juking or hiding from a Mesmer.

Case and point? New Players. How do you expect a new player to get into a game when they go up against a class like a Mesmer? They don’t know how to fight it, end up getting frustrated and, to be honest, don’t feel like it was fair. “There were so many of them! How do I win 4v1?!” I hate when games have classes like this. Sure, endgame when everyone knows what to do? Average class. At the lower levels? Not so much. Classes that have a LOT of utility tend to be a LOT stronger in the hands of a really good player who knows how to abuse it, and that’s exactly what Mesmers are. Look at WoW’s Frost Mage. Look at Tera’s Sorcerer. All of these have either high mobility, strong defensive buffs and/or lots of control and utility. And ALL of these classes are extremely strong duelists.

The problem is the utility, but in a game where EVERY class has something that makes them overpowered or “Imba”, it’s hard to balance a class without destroying what makes it unique. Because, let’s be honest, what makes most of these classes unique is also their strongest points. Guardians are impossible to kill. Warriors and their scary burst. Rogues and their one-shot combo. Hunters and their range. Eles and their, well, elements. The list goes on, but you get the point.

Moral of the story? Nerf Frost Mages.

Short answer to the OP/subject:

Nope. All of our core mechanics prevent us from putting any more than 10 points each into power and precision and we are thoroughly discouraged from putting any points into toughness.

Easy.
Don’t fight in a gamemode which the game design of the genre doesn’t support. It’s smallscale PvP, as long as no one expects any sort of balance all is fine, it’s when people think it can be done that it gets messy.

The strength of heart to face oneself has been made manifest. The persona Carighan has appeared.
