Assassin's is Meta right? Why?
Run whatever you feel does more dps because both sets are so close that in the end your “feel” would probably be the deciding factor anyways.
Assassins is “meta” because fully buffed it matches and slightly overtakes zerk dps. Juicy reflects are a nice bonus. Underbuffed zerk is preferred unless you value reflects above personal dps (~3% loss or so, been a while so can’t remember exact #’s)
So Assassin’s ONLY outshines zerk when, say, 25 stacks of might are present?
Short answer: Depends on the situation. Reflect based fights go with Assassin, No reflect go with Berserker.
Longer answer really involves a lot more variables such as what build you are using, your usual party comp, what buffs/foods you use, etc. With Mesmer’s we’re kinda burdened with having to swap builds and such depending on the situation.
If I could only choose one gear set for the rest of my illusionary life? I’d have to go with Assassin’s.
Unless you’re attempting record runs it’s not that big of a deal.
I personally run Assassin on my Mesmer so I can blow up Lupi at random times when I feel like it.

That said, if you find your damage to be bad when you run Assassins, I suspect you won’t find Berserker to be much better.
They’re pretty dang close as it is.
So basically I hate my mesmer, yet love every other mesmer. GG.
