Best armor for the Mesmer?
There is no “best” armor. Different builds, different playstyles demand different armor. You like berserker? Go with it then. I know I wouldnt because zerker sucks if you want even the slightest survivability when running outmanned in WvW.
i go full pvt with zerker trinkets and zerk weapons. works pretty good with my build but id say it really depends on wht kind of build u have and what u wanna do in wvw. u can easily roam full zerk in wvw.

Dire for WvW (condition builds), berserkers/assassins for everything else (and even WvW, for non-condition builds). Don’t listen to the zerker haters. They just don’t like that zerker is the most efficient armor, which is a valid complaint. However, there’s no reason to kitten yourself just because other people aren’t happy.
There was a thread like this before. Basically if you want to be able to use this gear in both PvE and WvW and want to be 100% sure that no matter what happens you will be able to use the set then zerker. Rabid is currently the meta for WvW mesmer (PU condi) but in PvE it’s always been zerker and you can always play zerker in WvW.
Also, to the poster above me – dire is a terrible choice for PU condi since you don’t have any precision to benefit from sharper images which is a major DPS boost in a condition build.
if you go staff + sc/t PU you honestly don’t have many sharper images procs anyway so dire is fine

Not quite accurate. You still get a quite significant amount of condition pressure from sharper images even without something like the iDuelist. On top of that, crits provide you with vigor through critical infusion, which ofc gives you more dodges and more clones to explode.
Dire can work, but you’ll just have less pressure and less mobility due to lack of vigor.
I use rampagers with dire trinkets.

If you’ll be sharing with your elementalist, probably best to go Berserker + scholar.

Fay,
What would you think of dire with rabid accs and weapons and enough rampager mixed in with the dire armor to get Crit at about 50% for PU build….napalm cat type? I run dire, but crit in low 40% range, and wonder if not using Sharper Images to full extent?

Rampagers is pretty much worthless.
What I run is full rabid armor and weapons. All of my accessories are the rabid/dire ascended mix type. This brings me up to about 19k-20k hp, and I’m comfortable with that.
Best to start off with a full set of rabid and a full set of zerker’s. Rabid is all you really need for a strong condi build in WvW and Zerker’s is all you need to be effective in PvE. For power builds in WvW, I usually mix in Knight’s, Cavalier’s and/or Assassin’s gear into my zerker set-up depending on what I’m doing in WvW. If you’re zerging go full zerker’s, if you’re roaming without support I recommend increasing your toughness to a level where you feel you can comfortably participate in most fights.
