Q:
Best build for a full celestial mesmer?
if you’re going with all stats, just go with divinity runes. i wouldn’t bother with celestial on mesmer but if you want to try, DO IT
37 more days and ill be celestial’d out! muahahahahaha! wait, laugh more angelically… how do angels laugh? laugh like that!
anyways
mainly im doing it just to avoid having 50 sets of armor i carry around in wvw and obsessively swap around as i obsessively change builds… im forcing myself to be less neurotic… by… being more neurotic in a different way… stupid 1 per day crystals..> BAH!

you’re going to have to overwrite so many runes, hope you dont get any expensive ones like traveler :P

I see celestial as okay at everything, really great at nothing.

I personally wouldn’t go for full Celestial … although, I’ve been having a good deal of fun with Celestial trinkets and swappable armorsets. As for runes, if you want to be a “true” jack-of-all-trades, why not run Superior Traveler’s? Get a bit of all stats, and OOC speed.

Celestial stats = Mesmer class in GvG (in large scaled with team oriented competitive groups yes except for veil and portal :P)

Well, since you’re going celestial, you’re valuing flexibility over raw stats. I would personally take advantage of that by swapping builds frequently, running power phantasm in PvE and then running either a roaming, boon/suppoert, or condition build in WvW depending on what’s needed. You’re not really utilizing the broad stats if you stick with just one build.
That said, if you were to try and wedge yourself into a build, you have a few options. If I were you, I’d make Staff the keystone of a build. Staff is one of those “kind of does it all” weapons that just screams “celestial” set. It would pair ok with scepter MH, which seems to scale well with both power and condition damage (except the auto-attack).
Based on that, I’d say a 20/20/30/0/0 build could be strong with that gear set. I’d also recommend taking a look at a 0/20/20/0/30 shatter build or some variant. Your shatters will be doing power damage AND condition damage while the slightly more “tanky” playstyle will make sure you leverage your defense stats as well.
I have a hard time running without Runes of the Centaur or Runes of the Traveler. Our run speed up-time is just so terrible. Since you’re not concerned with min/maxing, I’d say those would be a good match for your gear goals as well.
I’ll bite.
When I think Celestial, healing power stands out as unusual to mesmer builds I usually see.
So, playing to your strengths, put 20 into Inspiration, and make sure you’re playing a phantasm build. This way you’re getting strong phantasmal regeneration (along with the 15% more phantasm damage, and brief retal on them). Also, at the Master Trait, choose to either trait the focus if you like to use it, or Restorative Mantras if you’d like to spread your healing around your party/zerg.
Next, let’s take the staff. The iWarlock is a phantasm you can stand near to catch it’s regen, and it’s a weapon that scales well with either power or condition damage. It’ll also keep you safe and alive as you’re not able to be a one-hit-wonder with Celestial.
To really enjoy the staff, go 20 into Chaos to trait the staff.
And now, for the truly oddball part of it all, go 30 into Domination. Pickup Adept Empowered Illusions (+15% phantasm damage), and Grandmaster Harmonious Mantras for the three mantra cast if you’re doing the Restorative Mantra thing from your Inspiration line. You could instead take Confusing Enchantments if you’re more of a glamour guy.
In the end, you can choose for the non-staff weapon set (and trait for it) the Greatsword (for a power build) or the torch (for a more stealthy/condition build with the scepter). You’ve got +30% phantasm damage to make up a little of the lost power with Celestial.
Depends on where/how you play: there are big differences between pve, pvp, and wvw.
Regards!
Restorative +Harmonious Mantras is not a good combo. The heal only happens on charge up. If you insist on celestial, 0/20/0/25/25 seems like a good mix. Phantasms crit often for decent bleeds. Still do great power dmg. Regeneration to everyone. I guess that is more of a 0/20/0/25/0 build. It could also maybe work in a hybrid shatter build. 0/20/0/0/30 for the base. Clones/phants for power/bleed pressure. Shatters for a power/confusion spike. 20 domination removing boons or 20 chaos for might on interrupts. Doesn’t look like anything changes from a normal build.
great suggestions. I’m glad to see that there isn’t one single best build for the celestial stat. Usually when you go through a certain stat set you only have 1 viable build.
@ Shtos vant.
The minor trait in inspiration that grants +15% Phantasm damage is in the 25 slot not 20.
The build you suggested wont work out, cause you are explaining about a build that uses 75 trait points and not the norm of 70.
DuckDuckBoom had some good suggestions, especially with 0/20/0/25/0. It would be ideal to use sword pistol there, or even scepter pistol. You will have great conditions going on your enemies from Dueling 15 pt minor trait as well as combining pistol phantasm(preferably with 2 up) and a etheral field for some awesome confusion stacking as well.. Another possibility is to go 25 into chaos for extra survivability as well as picking up a staff as your defensive weapon set.
