I have a level 49 Asura mesmer and I find myself having a difficult time fully committing myself to his success. Mesmer is definitely my favorite of the eight professions, though I have never taken the time to get one to level 80. The problem I’m having with my current Mesmer is his race. I don’t really like his animations (on top of gearing him completely wrong). Each time I play, I find that I enjoy the skills and gameplay that comes with being a Mesmer, but am pushed away by the character himself. After much internal debate, I’ve made the decision to scrap the Asura and start anew with a new race.

To those of you who have an 80 Mesmer or feel as strongly about the profession as I do, what race would you suggest? This question is strictly in regards to cosmetic aspects like animations and clothing (including racial gear).

I rolled a human mesmer because both Queen Jennah and Countess Anise are mesmers, very powerful ones actually.

I would never change my female sylvari. Never ever.

Well, in my oppinion you should keep your asura mesmer, just for the sake of having as much alts as possible, and if you later realise you do like him again :P.

Anyway, if I had a choice to remake my Norn Mesmer… Hm… I wouldnt make an Asura, that’s for sure. Yes maybe a slight size edge in combat and animations are good, but the weapons are always so tiny. I definetly wouldnt pick a bloody plant and not those boring humans. Charr maybe – I really like their staff animations. And dont forget – Charrs in pink robes with butterflies all over is the manliest thing ever. But granted, their outfits are a little meh.

I’d probably pick a Norn again.
