Bliss' Wish List
• make mesmers even more OP in 1v1
To nake something OP, it already has to be OP.
Are you sure you’re playing the same game?

Sure mesmer is balanced that’s why 50% of people in dueling servers are mesmers.

Yes, I’m sure that there’s no other reason a person that likes dueling would want to play the dueling class. Mesmer is easy to play but hard to play well. If you want to complain about it being OP you should also consider how much effort must be exerted by the player to achieve his or her output. Think about it then compare it to the Hambow warrior.

you mispelled thief.
Thief is easely counter by meditation guard or condi engi. I haven’t seen a skilled mesmer losing a duel yet. Mesmer AI is incredibly strong in 1v1.
And wait till lyssa Nerf, thieves will start losing to condi wars/necro.
atse this is a suggestion thread and therefore should stay constructive. op has brought up a bunch of good points which were nerfs that were too harsh. u having an l2play issue doesnt fit in here. so simply saying oh its op oh i cant beat it,…etc is not very constructive, so if u cant contribute to this conversation with a constructive comment, then go back to the spvp forum!

I like most of these suggestions, the Bountiful Interruption one in particular. Not sure how I feel about the Halting Strikes one though.. It’s already a pretty underwhelming trait and limiting it to just movement skills wouldn’t make it worth taking over Phantasm or Mind Wrack damage.
I really quite like some of these suggestions, especially allowing Blade Training to stack when using two swords. Also, making interrupt effects dependent on player activity would certainly make things more interesting.
However, I don’t think it would be fair to revert the nerfs to Blurred Frenzy and Temporal Curtain, seeing as these were introduced to provide more counter-play options against these quite powerful skills.

L2p issue , sure a mesmer who can’t win at least 90% of his duels has a l2p issue not me.
u arent even trying to understand the problems mesmers have. mesmers dont win 90% of the time a all. it actually requires skill to do that. u gotta understand how this class works and mes is no problem to kill.
if u move away from hotjoin and go to actual teampvp then u will see how there ie barely any mesmers there.
i play tpvp but i cant join my guildies when im on my mesmer cause mes is not really viable in groupfights at al. yes i can win a duel but not without effort. go make a mes and play it and then u will maybe understand these suggestions here.

The thing with Temporal Curtain is that the nerf didn’t really affect counterplay at all. If I want to pull you with Curtain, it’ll happen — the only difference is that now I’ll wait til the end of the skill before detonating it. You still won’t have any idea when to dodge, because you don’t know when it’ll be coming.
The only way the nerf hurt Curtain was as a common counter to Shadow Refuge. Because preventing a full Shadow Refuge in a team scenario can mean the difference between a win and a loss, this change dramatically hurt the focus and reduced its appeal to the point where it’s fairly uncommon and has been displaced in favor of more self-centered offhands.
Simply for the fact that mesmers ARE considered OP in 1v1 situations (that may be due to 75% of people not knowing how to fight them properly, but it’s irrelevant), I would say they are one of the professions currently least in need of buffs (alongside warriors, thieves and engis). I love playing mesmer, and having access to both lots of stealth and tab-target-taunting clones makes it one of the best duelists. I wouldn’t go as far to say mesmers are OP (though I am a bit skeptical about the balance of the access to so much stealth and clones) but adding all these buffs certainly would make us OP.
Let me add some more to the list, shimmerless:
- Revert the Blinding Befuddlement nerf. That ICD addition was foolishness of truly
epic magnitude, and is only compounded by the existence of other class’ options
RE: kittenloads of Blind. - Fix all Mesmer class bugs. (Although, we’re finally seeing some of them handled.)
- Clones that show a Mesmer’s Signets/Mantras, et cetera.
- Remove the cute little trick of disabled NPC nameplates allowing a person to see
the real Mesmer. (Seriously, how has that not been addressed? It’s like ANet wants a Mesmer to be found out. ) - Put Distracting Strikes where it properly belongs. On. The. Confusion. Class.
- Buff the bloody IMage. Yesterday.
(The next two are for all classes)
- Fix the bleeding LoS implementation.
- Fix the Condition stacking mechanism.

my only wish list:
-a better Q&A team
..being a cynical forecaster.
..being a doom-monger….and being a hopeless jinxer.
I was thinking about the recent placement of Illusionary Invigoration lately and how much it’s bugged me. The reason is that I’ve always taken Illusionary Elasticity to put pressure on staff, and it’s now impossible to have both (which did and would still come at a cost, namely the appealing Adepts in Illusions).
Something else I’ve also been wondering about is shatters heal, namely Restorative Illusions in Inspiration. I understand that there are always new avenues to explore, and that many lines sometimes shy away from being “pure” to encourage creative thinking, but I can’t shake the feeling that this trait’s placement was intentionally obtuse. As someone here once put it, it seems designed for an 80 trait points Mesmer.
Why not kill two birds with one stone? We could move it to a Major Illusions trait, perhaps swapping places with Phantasmal Haste. Ideally I think it would work as an Adept, in which case Dazzling Glamours could take its place.
I can certainly anticipate this trait being too strong in Illusions, but I can’t imagine it being overbearingly so, and I think you would see it balanced by the interesting choices that one would make by having a healing option at this trait tier. Do you want heavy defense? You could take shatters heal and shatter recharge (if it were Adept). Sustain and damage? Heal and damage per illusion, or recharge and damage if it were Major. Sustain and staff pressure? These are all choices which encourage different playstyles, opening some doors while closing others.
I really think this would be a strong way to rescue one of our niche traits and bring it into the limelight in a healthy and skillful way.
What does everyone think?
