Blurred Frenzy
What are you trying to say?
They simply changed the description to be more appropriate. The skill is still the same if you didn’t notice…
Does this effect the trait: Masterful Reflection (distortion causes reflection)?
That is the only way I can see this anything more than a simple change of words.
Masterful reflection never worked on blurred frenzy. Ever. So it is just a text change.
It is necessary to change Blurred frenzy and separate it from distortion so that they can make mesmers vulnerable to certain attacks while using your “blur” evasion techniques.
Removed my sarcastic comments regarding how they plan on nerfing mesmers next

This. I was sad to find distort from blurred frenzy didn’t trigger masterful reflection. I had hoped it was a bug but, when it comes to arenanet the best way to fix a bug, is to relabel it a feature

The only change here is the tooltip, if you ever read the effect you got while using BF it has always been Blur and not Distortion. They’re the same thing just Blur doesn’t work with distortion traits, probably to prevent wonky and/or broken combos from traits

Right. It always caused blur. Tooltip said it gave distortion leading people to expect traits that effect distortion to work with it. They don’t. Now the tooltip reflects what the skill really does.

I still think they intended it too and decided it’d be easier to call the bug a feature and let it slide. Seems kind’ve pointless a trait that gives you 1-4 second reflection on a 45-60 second cooldown, when you are already immortal

Perhaps, and as a fellow Mesmer I would have loved Blurred Frenzy to receive additional benefits through traits.
But from a game balance perspective I have to agree that it would have potentially made a skill that can be used every 10s(8s) too powerful.
So in this case I would consider the change in wording from Distortion to Blur a good change. At least now we know it will not work work with Masterful Reflection and was probably never intended to work with it.

Please Arenanet if you are reading these give us more than one ability that uses Masterful Reflection. Blurred Frenzy should have been been applying it or at least that’s what the community expected. Instead however, we are seeing the stripping of versatility from builds as with most other classes whom now have far fewer builds they can actually use to be competitive.
P.S. It’s all I want for Christmas :P
Regarding one of Aveneo’s statements (I have yet to discover how to quote), I’m fairly certain that Blurred Frenzy can be used every 12 (10) seconds, on account of the recharge starting at the end (like with most skills).
Just in case someone reads it and thinks “If it were 12 (10) seconds I’d be ok with it, but 10 (8) seconds is just too kitten fast!” and sparks an anti-mesmer conspiracy, resulting with all of us being burned for being superior (but not numerious enough to survive) to everyone else.
