Why are you making a build to counter one specific build spec (PU) of one specific class (Mesmer)? Unless I’m missing something here, I would say that’s rather short sighted.

Well PU Builds counter high condition removal by just the sheer amount of conditions you can apply. Countering other PU Mesmers is just an exercise in skill with this build. but if you want more examples of what an actual hybrid build looks like here is one that I ran when I first got to 80.

The goal of a hybrid build is to do both Condition damage and Power damage, making it hard to counter the damage being delivered.. Before I switched over to condition builds I was actually in the process of crafting celestial armor because me and a few others had theorized it would be the perfect Hybrid armor.

Celestial armor would be ideal for a hybrid build. I’ve made an alternative to it:

- 3 Rabids (boots, leggings, gloves)
- 2 Valkyries (chest, shoulders)
- 1 Celestial helm
- Celestial amulet
- Rampager rings
- Rabid accessories
- Soldier back (with jewel/crest of choice)
- Traveler’s runes

Ah! Sorry for mistaking you guys. Both the Offensive Version and the Defensive version can counter PU Condition builds and DPS/PU/Condition Removal builds. It’s just that when I separated the build into two parts, I was aiming at the user being able to choose different versions dependin on the situation given. Like 1 vs X for example. Phloww, thank you for your idea, it is very interesting. Might try to tweek some armor as you have kindly suggested. Thank you. As for Deathcon, thank you for posting the link. Saw the build, but I still think there is not that much condition damage to be a constant threat to your enemies condition wise. you have very low condition damage, which results in having low confusion, your only source of condition damage in the current state of your build. I hope you understand my point of view and where I’m getting this from. I am very much glad you showed me the link tho. I am gonna look at it more extensively in a few.

Edit: Pyro, I can have easily up to 9 stacks of might constantly, and a few more possible when an enemy hits me. With 10 might stacks, I have around 3k power and 1300 condition damge. This is pretty good I think.

well well here we go again. i really don’t get why you wanna make a build to just counter one specific build (also i am nor really convinced of mesmer hybrid builds but i might be proofenn wrong).
But well menace i got something for you here, see if you wanna be really innovativ don’t focus on 1v1 and solo roaming builds. We got plenty of viable builds and yours havent’t really made it so far.

BUT as you are so eager to find your own build. why not make a viable zerg build that doesn’t focus on support or beeing a veil, portal bot? That would really raise my attention.

Well, I have some idea of what I would like to do for Zerg build that doesn’t focus on support or glamour. However, I would like to still continue in this thread a bit more. If you want to show me the best offensive build we have right now, pray do so. I would like to see how it compares to mine. Again, if you want me to create a Zerg build, I have to see the best one yet. It has to be Offensive tho, I mean DPS. This is so I can compare that one to the one I have right now. So plz post link to some viable DPS Zerg builds.

Edit: I really have not that much interest in doing a Zerg build. I hate being in zergs anyways. I would like to progress much in this build and achieve the goal of Viable Hybrid build.

I have a question to ask you fraps users. I recorded for almost 2 hours today, but when I went to check the video out, it was only like 10 seconds long. What the fudge just happened? I swear that I pressed record, and pressed stop after the recording, so it can save in the file I chose, but now it is like 10 seconds long. Anyone have any idea what the heck just happened to this program?

I am troubled my self for self bumping, but I seriously have a problem with the fraps recording. I can’t get the recording to go over 10 seconds. I mean come on. What kind of software does that? Alright, so I am so sorry like kitten. I know I promised you guys a vid by end of this week. As Pyros have suggested, I think the problem that I am experiencin is GIGO, or (Garbage In, Garbage Out). Something to do with my computer getting false information and then spitting out bad computer experiences. Anyhow, after very much further testing, I have decided to update the build into a better overall build. I have also renamed the build because Enter The Void was from my previous build’s name. And since I have thrown that out the window, I saw it fit that I should change this thread’s name. This build is near complete, so I will get rid of the Testing and Need Criticism in my title. I am trying my very best right now to get a recording of this build’s performance. I hope it becomes amazing when it comes out.(The build’s performance, not the quality)

no one ever said you improved apart from yourself. Build is standard, has been around for a while now. only your gearchoice is a bit different.

EDIT: swapping utilities does not improve a build. Many people switch their utilities regularly dependig on the situation they are going to face.

I agree with Gozzo you didn’t do anything to improve it and originally when you had the sword you actually made it WORSE. Now it is just another PU Condition build, if a PU Condition build is a cheese pizza then this build is a pepperoni pizza. Very little actual difference.

First of all, you guys are keep saying same thing too: Oh! This build can’t do well against condition based builds because it is a hybrid! when have hybrid ever beaten anyone! Well guess what. New to you guys, as i have said a bunch of times. With this build, you have condition And DpS. Even against well armored enemies, this build does around up to 1600-2000 Phantasmal Duelist, 1600-2000 blurred frenzy, and around 700 per pulse Damages of Confusin Damage that is enough to do some severe damage to enemies. Add to that, I have 6 condition removals every 20 seconds and I have -50% condi removal. The thing that confuses me the most is why you say this is another condi build and act like it has been explored before. Well, then , pray explain clearly why I never saw one like it. It is not Creative. I know, mine’s not that Flashy New thing. It is almost same setup. What is different about mine is that I went to go to hybrid, when no one else would give the time to make it Viable, and I have succeeded. What makes me very confused is the fact that you act like you guys have tried my build for an extensive period of time. I doubt you guys even tried to get the armors in PvP. That is why I am working hard to make a video of this build. To show you guys what this build is capable of because you haven’t tried it. I know you guys haven’t tried it. I can tell in the way you speak to me. All of your suggestions are well thought into. I just hope that I can tell the community that Hybrids are Viable.

Here’s the bit, Menace – unfortunately, human nature and the persistence of memory indicate that those you deal with in this world will remember the numerous “bad” things you’ve done, long before the “good” ones. This is what you are currently struggling with.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that your ability to deal with negative criticism hasn’t shown an upswing recently. It has. But, this situation is probably why folk are so adamant about seeing your new spec in action.
All this means, is simple: get that vid running, show folk what you mean by your words.
We humans are, by default, visually centered. Imagery provides better, easier proof than any amount of words. With that said, good luck.

Yes! I want to get that video done! But I am only limited to 3 days a week to play. And yes, I understand why people are angered towards me. Because they haven’t been given the video that they deserve to see. I would have finished recording, edited, and posted the vid on youtube yesterday, but the Fraps was kitten killin me. Now I have to use Ezvid, but I have seen that it sorta lags my gameplay every now and then. I really hope I can somehow bypass the lagginess and post a good quality video. Advent, can you tell me other Game Recording programs beside Fraps and Ezvid? (Ezvid is recorder and editer)

Bandicam (10 minute max recording time for free version).
MSI Afterburner (no limitations).

You’ll likely need a separate hard drive to record to (not the same one GW2 is installed on) in order to minimize FPS performance/lag and get the best quality video. If you don’t have that, you’re going to have a difficult time with this. Not that it can’t be done, but it’s definitely more frustrating and you’re going to end up with much lower quality videos due to the need to tone game settings down and record at lower resolutions.

Depending on your rig, you will likely have to play around with a lot configurations and recording qualities to come to something that works. This will require some reading/research and experimentation.

I’ll be honest, and say I have zero experience in that area. I play on a laptop, and don’t have enough CPU (from what I’ve heard of recording programs) to comfortably run one/GW2/and VoIP, at the same time.

1. I didn’t say that this particular build can’t handle conditiondamage (one of your million previous iterations couldn’t but you improved that).

2. With the word build we usually refer to the trait setup. So your build (traitwise) is not new. The only thing you do different is the gear. That’s ok. As i said in my previous post i am sceptical towards hybrid builds but i could be wrong. Thing is that i am not really impressed by 1,6k-2k duellist and 2k frenzy as i prefer more condidamage and tankiness but that is a matter of choice

3. Stop making statements that your build is viable or that you have stomped one gazillion noobs or whatever until you can prove it. (How often do we have to say that and yes we know you have issues with recording).

4. Stop beeing pathetic assuming that players here are not able to acquire gear or anything.

5. DPS = Damage per Second. This applies to Direct Damage and Condition Damage.

6. Stop Bumping and renaming your post until you have some hard facts.

Wow attacking my ability to get gear as an argument? You sure will get far here menace, now to your points I didn’t say kitten about it being unviable once you changed it the first time to incorporate scepter. Secondly DPS includes condition damage and direct damage so please learn what the hell you are even talking about not to mention the damage numbers you put out don’t equal your stats so once more I am going to have to ask for a video.

Ok, I hope you guys stop criticising this build since you guys never tested it out. I am gonna post a vid. Do I need to say it again that I can only play 3 days a week? I am working hard to bypass the internal lagginess and to post a good quality video, edit it, and post it on youtube. As I have said again, then we can talk all about the build after I post a vid, which I hope will be soon because it is also driving me crazy. And you guys say that I am battling all noobs. Well then, is it easy to find experienced players everywhere I go? I am trying hard to find skilled opponents, but that is sorta hard. All the experienced players I meet regularly happen to be warriors, not Mesmers.

I suggest reading the help file to select options suited to your computers processing power for smoother recording.

Those are pretty modest settings while still maintaining a quality vid people can happily watch.

Then dload Movie Maker. Open your recordings in that and save the vid “for computer”. Create a youtube account, log in, click upload at the top of your browser window then drag and drop your vid to upload to youtube.

Thanks, I figured out the problem after going through forums for Bandicam and Fraps. I am gonna download Bandicam. Gonna get while to get used to, but all good for the community Since this video can only record up to 10 minutes, and I if I want to do dueling vids I have to be able to battle constantly without stopping in between to find new partners, I will do a recording of this build’s performance in tPvP. Gonna post a vid of me and my mates vs some other people. Hope it will be a good fight that everyone and me can appreciate.

Well, I have a question for you experienced people. As I was running this build while testing the Bandicam program, I found out that this build lacked movement speed/mobility. It was very good at 1 vs 1 and 1 vs 3+, but I felt that the movement speed could have been improved. Should I go with travelers on this hybrid build? I’m not that familiar into the area of Traveler runes for this setup. I hope you guys can give your kind suggestions on this area. I’m really curious about how it would affect me in roaming. I don’t want to invest in these runes until I hear some valid information on them. I hope you guys will be able to provide me info in this area.

I really need to see a video of you killing people because this build (outside of the traits) just doesn’t seem good at all. Your condition damage is way low and your dd burst is not going to be high either.

@ sckamow, I already saw the forum, my question was focused on this build mostly, with me not having blink, I wondered if Traveler runes will make that much of a difference in combat for me and this utility setup. This question was directed towards my build, not generally. Sorry for mistaking you

the main advantage of the runes is getting faster around the map in wvwvw. in combat however they do not make up for blink (personally i blink is the only utility that never leaves my bar), the stunbreak on blink is also gold.

i would recommend dumping the mantra for blink, the condiramoval from torch should be sufficient. if you get jumped by more than one condition specc at a time you cannot remove fast enough and will die (Remember what nemesis from the necro forums says. If you face players of equal skill you cannot win a 1vx.).

i don’t wanna debate on you gear however i think there are better rune choices. You have -10% condiduration and +20% condiduration. that doesn’t help much.

Either go for perplexity or Undead for more dmg. or traveller for the luxury of runspeed.

Well, the reason why I even had the nerve to take out Blink was not because it was useless, but because my battling experiences told me to. My enemies always ran away from me after I used blink, which made me limited in my ability to catch up to my opponents. So I just thought that I should just get rid of them. The enemies that can run away from me are the following classes with swiftness

Mesmer
Thief
Engi
Warrior
Ranger
Guardian
Maybe Ele

Every single one of them seems to run away from me After I use Blink. It just drove me nuts. However, I do have one question for October patch. Does Power Cleanse stability also apply to the user?? If so, that can be an additional source of stunbreak for me.

EDit: I am thinking of either having Traveler runes or full Perplexity and Undead like you have said. I’m not sure whether having 20% condi duration and -40% condi duration on me is ok or not.

mesmers is literally the worst profession when it comes to stopping runners.
consider a fleeing enemy a victory.

@Gozzo. I knew I wasnt the only one! thanks for clearing up that for me. I guess I can’t do that much things to improve my mobility as a hybrid spec with the setup that I have.

@Joonks. I know, but I hope that this build might be able to convince people other wise. Once I complete the video and update the guide, I think my content should be just about done. (With some minor changes in WvW build if needed in the future of course.)

Good lord. Stop asking these questions and experiment yourself.

I use traveler runes in WvW for my burst builds, I would not use them for the full condition PU builds, you lose too much condition damage. And you need more mobility on zerker/burst builds due to low survivability. As for catching runners, on the PU build I typically use Scepter/ Torch and Sword/Pistol. It’s quite rare for someone to get away from me and if they do, well meh it’s a win in my eyes.

As for your “hybrid” PU build, I see what your getting at, but’s it’s never going to be as viable/optimal as either a pure PU condition build, or a pure Power/Zerk build. PU builds in themselves are very good, you are probably thinking your hybrid build is good but in essence it’s the nature of the PU clone/condition spammer build which is good. If you went full condition damage, you would see even better results than your current hybrid build.

Quite why you are so obsessed with counter PU based mesmers I will never know. I come across PU condition mesmers in sPvP/tPvP when I’m running my interrupt zerker build, I don’t even have any condition removal I don’t think I’ve lost to a PU condition Mesmer yet. In general I find pure burst beats condition professions at the moment and if you know the tricks and how mesmers apply their damage, they are pretty easy to counter.

@Loco. My purpose for making hybrid build is to teach people that they are a total different thing. I hate it when people say that a hybrid build is a Zerker build with lots of condition damage, or condition build with lots of direct damage. I hope I can change people’s view on this matter through a success with this build.

Also, I am planning to change the runes for this build. So as to have only what is necessary, and to buff other aspects of this build that are weaker right now.
